I think the dentist messed something up

Went to get a cleaning 2 weeks ago and had one cavity filled and they decided to touch up my old grey fillings to white ones and had a cleaning as well. Since then, the spot where my cavity was has been extremely sensitive to cold and hot food/drink. I can barely drink cold water without it hurting and/or bite down on hot food..

Annoying, I need to go to a new dentist and get this checked out..

Happened to me after my last filling too, except I also had extreme pain chewing anything...turned out it needed to be "adjusted", which made things better but still really sensitive...ended up using sensitive toothpaste since then and after 6 months it's pretty much back to normal, sucked like hell for over a month though:\

i had/have a similar problem recently. Got a filling in my upper pre molar and it was very sensative to pressure and cold/hot things. never had that problem before. Dentist told me when i had it done it will be touchy for a while, but will clear up. Its been a couple months and has gotten a lot better, but still not that great.

Going to a new dentist because a filling hurts? Fillings always are sensitive, at least to some extent.

If your dentist is a shitty dentist, go elsewhere. Don't go to a different dentist because a fixed tooth is sensitive. That's just the general nature of getting fillings. Take better care of your teeth and you won't have to worry nearly as much about sensitivity.

Any time your teeth are drilled, there's going to be sensitivy to it. In one case, it took about a year after having a filling done for it to not be sensitive to heat and cold. Some have also just taken days, so it varies.

Sometimes, the filling they use around the RFID tracking chip the dentist installed takes a while to fully cure. Once that happens, the extra sensitivity you're experiencing should go away.

Happened to me and it turned out a hole developed in the filling.

Somehow that also lead to an infection (I believe it was related) and I ended up having to have a root canal on that same tooth. Was not fun at all.

cant resist a dentist joke...
