I think stress is making me feel ill

Lifer
Seems I always feel light-headed and completely wore out all the time.

Anyone else actually been diagnosed with stress related illness?

Stress is a part of life. Deal with it.

Coping mechanisms FTW!

Seriously - stress can be a killer. It can and will affect your physical health. Exercise is one of the best things. See a professional to find the best way to cope. I prefer the "water off a duck's back" mentality.

*meh*

Wrong.

How you cope with change is a part of life.

The mind controls the body. The mind can make one very sick physically.

My point exactly. You need to deal with stress. Being diagnosed with a stress related illness just sounds like a cop-out for dealing with the curve balls life throws at you.

What is the treatment for a stress related illness anyway? I'm guessing drugs? Yeah, that just reinforces my opinion.

yeah, now were getting into mental health. That's my main point.

You can't just tell somebody "brush it off" if they've laid a path full of stress. The answer is "change your path, or find ways to cope with your path".

Medication can be a big help for serious stress, especially when it affects ones health. But it is only one of many ways of fixing one's head. In fact it just masks the symptoms.

Dude - I'm stressed out beyond the wazoo.... I understand exactly how it works and the basic needs of the mind. IMHO, you fix the mind first - with possibly the assistance of fighting the symptoms via medication. And I REALLY don't believe in medication - but as a tool to assist with fixing temporarily the mind I support it.

If OP is really feeling it physically then he needs to see and talk to his doctor.

Sorry, I'm only familiar with the ones that makes me feel anxiety and it's always been as a result of something that I have to deal with in the course of my life...either by my own doing or by the actions or inactions of those around me.

Yeah, but it's one big snowball and they are all interactive IMHO. The term "downward spiral" didn't just come out of nowhere.
