My wife's cousin unexpectedly brought her PC over almost two weeks ago now because she was having trouble with it. I fixed it up for her (which included a nice bout of me updating her PC to SP3 resulting in BSOD) and she finally came and picked it up last night.

Surprisingly, she gave me two pairs of jeans (not Diesel) as compensation. I was shocked because 1) I certainly didn't expect payment, especially after the BSOD episode and 2) Well...it was jeans.

Still, very nice and I believe a first as well.
 
Was she hot? You could've given her some of your genes too.

I was everybody's free tech support for life even when I wasn't being compensated.

My Christmas visit to my family will include fixing my parent's computer because my Dad did something screwy to it and setting up a wireless router for my sister.

i bring the girls up to see my parents just about every weekend. consider yourself lucky.

EDIT: of course, i raid their pantry and fridge so it's almost even.

Either she thinks he is dirt poor, or she thinks he has an absolutely terrible fashion sense, either way not good for him.....

I put jeans on the Christmas list I sent to my family (I do need a couple of pair) but I don't think my wife's family knows that. My wife probably mentioned to her in passing on how I was tearing up all of my jeans. Only thing I can think of. Her family is very clothing conscience. They usually give out clothes as gifts, even for the kids, whereas my family does the toys.

I'm dissapointed in AT.....it took 6min for a post like this to be up. I thought we were better than this
 
My aunt and uncle pay me cash for my tech support. They always manage to screw things up really good, and it's usually an all-day proposition to fix their shit after traveling. I usually ball-park a figure that's 1/10 my usual rate, then they give me a check for double that and make me dinner. Everyone thinks they got a deal.
