I think Quake 4 rocked.

The beginning is boring, but from the middle to the end it's good.

I likeit better than Doom3, but that's doesn't mean much. I've read that it gets better as the game goes on, where Doom3 seemed like the exact same thing over and over.
I'll keep playing it for now, but it needs to get more fun soon!

Its been out a week and its already been beaten several times over from people. Goes to show you its more of a technology preview... still... when Raven makes a Jedi Knight 4 game then come talk to me about the Doom 3 engine.

That is totally true! Its because it resembles doom 3 so much that people will downrate it. Doom 3 was allright, i like being scared, being scared repeatedly really ticked me off though.... stupid monster cupboards.

I think they maybe should have tweaked the engine a bit more so it dosent resemble doom 3 so much, maybe having corpses that stay etc.

I made it to where i got captured / strogged and was honestly bored and quit playing.

Did i not reach the Better" parts of the game?

damit i just beat it. the ending was worse than F.E.A.R's. It was short as hell too, like a minute. I still enjoyed the game tho.

It's better than Doom 3's ending. And for the record, Half-Life 2's non-ending didn't do much for me either.

I think Quake 4 is on par with HL2 ... jsut that it came a year later.

I wouldn't put Q4 on the same plane as HL2, but Q4 has definitely been a good ride so far.

It's prettier, but doesn't quite have the gameplay that things like the grav gun brought to HL2.

Q4 beats the hell out of Doom 3 anyday though (do what you will with the pun).

There really is a LOT of similarities to doom 3 though. Similar enemies, the tough strogg guy with the spike hand to doom 3's commando zombie. That metal dog thing to doom 3's pinky. Flying metal can to doom 3's cacodemon. They even behave similarly, i.e the will simply charge at you.

Still, its way ahead of doom 3 in terms of gameplay.

I liked HL2's ending. And to be honest with you I'm really enjoying Quake 4 as well. That being said I'm playing it on the easiest level, and part of the reason I say that I'm enjoying it, is that things keep moving on at a good clip, and I'm not getting stuck on parts that I have to play over and over again. I really like the squad mate AI way better that older games, I like that I don't have control over them as well. That is actually my biggest gripe with the game so far I wish more of it was spent with squad mates. It would be even better if there was a Quake 2 style co-op mode. I'm having a good time, which is surprising because I hated doom3, and no in this case hate is not too strong a word.
