I think pearle vision cheated me

Hi, I ordered 1.74 high index lenses and I got a rimless frame. My prescription went up a little bit (my prescription only went up +1 in each eye to -6.50 and -7.75). I'm pretty sure I got 1.67 or 1.71 last time and those are much much thinner than my new 1.74 glasses. My new glasses are more than twice as thick at the edges. I called them up and told them it seemed too thick, they told me the rimless frame means it will be thicker. Did they cheat me? What should I do?
 
Every Rimless frame I have ever ordered was thicker than rimmed glasses. I'm no professional, but I would venture to assume it's due to needing to put the band in the lenses to allow it to attach to the rim securely.
 
Of course they cheated you, it's pearle vision! That said, if your vision has been corrected and you see well with them, relax. Your life won't change because you have thicker lenses.
 
Why would they cheat you on this? Amazing they your first assumption is that they're being dishonest, when they are experts whose point seems completely rational.

Okay good. I didn't realize they would be that much thicker. Guess I will go with half rimless next time.
 
As I understand it, different lens materials will refract at different rates.
Depending on your lens material, your lenses could be thicker or thinner for the same refraction.
 
If you measure the radii of curvature of the surfaces, you could calculate if it is the right index.

My rimless frames are thin as a peice of paper...of course my lenses are made from dilithium crystals...

They cheated you by giving you MORE glass?
 
They screwed me hard last year. I got my exam, contact exam and ordered Air Optics contacts from them. When I picked them up, they were for ZERO correction. When I called them, they claimed that I didn't need correction even though I always have and the exam they gave me said I did.

I will never, ever, ever step foot in one of their stores again.
 
If the eyesize is bigger than the last old frame, they can be thicker. By the way, did the lenses come with Anti Reflective coating by chance?
