Alright, you've been on these forums longer than i.

You should know what to include in these kinds of posts.

Exact rig specs pls.
It's very difficult to just guess what hardware you have

Now if you haven't already done this, read this superb OCing guide, & follow the steps.

Assuming your X2 3800+ is a POS until you've found your max HTT, max RAM speed, & max CPU is foolish.

Now from what you've to described so far, i have no other ideas yet, but again, until i see what you are actually running, it's extremely difficult to guess.

Edit: I see you added your system info to the post, thanx.

First step would be to see if maybe your mobo is crap:

ISOLATE
Don't forget to take notes.

1. Max HTT/FSB should be first ..*only works if motherboard has locks. Most A64 boards do today. Sata 1 and 2 are not locked on some nforce mobos use 3 and 4.
-set CPU multi to 6 or 7, this will take CPU out of equation
-set memory to SPD and 100, this will take memory out of equation
-Increase HTT/FSB up until you fail to boot or there abouts, back down 5%, (HTT * 0.95), this is your max safe HTT.

What is your actual memory frequency with the 333 setting? Try relaxing the timings or decreasing the memory to 300 or less to deterimine the max cpu overclock. I would go in increments if I were you though. Try 240 X 10 with memory at 300 or less and see what happens on dual Prime95. Also, have you run Memtest to ensure no memory errors even at default clocks?

Try upping the vcore if your cooling can handle it. I got 2.6 GHz stable out of my X2 3800+, but I had to go up to 1.55v vcore. I was able to do 2.4 GHz at stock volts, so you might have a bum chip, but it's worth a try.

Looks like you got screwed. Still, an AMD processor at 2.2 is good. (check if you can get to 2.2 :) )

what kind of temps are you getting? and at what mhz at that temp...
my 3800+ X2 is able to run 2.4ghiz stock volt and 16hours of prime stable with 10 for priority

well looks like it running stable at 2.3 a 1.3 vcore and my temps are 35c idle and 46c load

now how will I get 2.4

Other than a voltage bump which has already been recommended I told you what to try.. Prime is more stressful than memtest if only for more heat is introduced into case from CPU being fully loaded. Otherwise you may be at your chips limits.

Bump up vcore to 1.5V

Heck even 1.55 or slightly more is safe with good temps.

I'd try 1.5V though, & see what you can get.

Also, as much as it might suck, you paid for a 2.0 Ghz dual core CPU, & that's what you got.
Anything more is a bonus :)

And if you think its that bad, give to me, I will even give you a couple hundred for it. I still have one for 939 motheboard without an X2 !
