Depending on how much you stop eating, this could be counter productive. You cut out too much food and your body goes into survival mode holding onto every calorie for dear life.

Why do you say this? If it's for the same reason the average fat, burger eating, whale thinks their metabolism is slow because they can't seem to lose any weight, even though they stopped large sizing their thrice daily trip to Mcdonalds, well then you need to eat less.

If, on the other hand, you have a legitimate medical condition like a thyroid issue affecting your metabolism a doctor can hook you up.

Exercise and eat breakfast - if you already eat breakfast then eating more often and in smaller quantitites may help.

I say consult better help from nutrition websites etc. because it seems like no one wants to give you an answer that your really looking for. But IMO, definitely exercise and eat healthy. Dont stay away from fats entirely, they're good for your metabolism just choose good fats like chicken and beef(non-fried). And rather than eating large portions 2-3 times a day, eat smaller portioned meals maybe 4-5 times a day.

This is often a misconception. I have been told by doctors and dieticians that easting less will more than likely slow your metabolism. Eating more (maybe more often, like spltting the 3 meals a day to 6) will usually speed up the metabolism.

in addition to whats been said, try to get a little cardio in the morning. That will raise your metabolism for the rest of the day.

^ This is really true. Eating breakfast (or just something to get your stomache to work on EARLY IN THE DAY) is critical to having higher metabolism.

Here's the key: when you eat, your metabolism goes up. When you starve yourself, your metabolism goes down. This often leads to binging, and is a key reason why starving yourself to weight loss almost never works (an when it does, it's with terribly unhealthy side effects).

So, besides regular excersise, putting some food in your mouth at the start of the day gets your metabolism off to a good start. Even if you aren't that hungry during the morning, do it anyways.

Bleh. I don't know about you, but I can't eat for like 3 hours after I wake up. My stomach has to slowly turn on.
