At some point in the last couple of days I think the GPU in my laptop has been fried. The computer in question is a Clevo w230ST with an nvidia 765M GTX.
I tried to play a game earlier today (Civ 5) and noticed it was really choppy. I then went looking for a culprit and found that the 765M wasn't showing up in device manger and the game was running on the integrated GPU, hence the choppiness. I decided to uninstall all the nvidia drivers and reinstall. Unfortunately the drivers don't pick up the GPU. Next stop I took a look in the BIOS. To my dismay the GPU wasn't showing up there either.
From what I have read on the net if it isn't showing up in the BIOS then that is a bad sign. Does anyone have any tips/tricks/checks I can perform to confirm the dead GPU? I'll probably open it up tomorrow to check for any physical damage but it is getting late and I've had enough.
Unfortunately it is out of warranty though it was purchased in Australia and I may have some rights under the ACCC. So on a side question do any Australians have any experience with an ACCC claim?
Thanks in advance.
