I think my Filipino neighbor is racist.

My neighbor calls other people of East Asian decent "orientals". Is there an actual rule against this or is it just a lame PC thing?

how fuckin sensitive can people get? very. it's recockulous the lengths some people go to so they can state that they are offended.

Wasn't the "original" meaning of Orient "East"? IIRC, it was originally used for what we call the Middle East.

I think it's just considered to be "colonial" in American English. In the UK, that's the normal term. For them, Asian = Indian/Pakistani.

Would they be offended if you referred to them individually as "uhohs"?

If you saw a white guy calling an Asian person Oriental, I can guarantee people would call it racist.

I woudn't, but people might. Same if some white guy referred to a black person as "colored". Terms change, but it's not necessarily racist (unless context indicates so) to use either oriental or colored. A bit behind on the supposed politically correct standards of the day (whether willfully or not), but not racist.
