I think my Creative Zen is bricked...

I was at the gym yesterday, on one of the stationary bikes, with my Creative Zen Micro Photo 8gb nestled comfortably against my towel, when suddenly it took a dive onto the floor. About a 4ft drop... well, fling, I guess; I must have got my hand tangled in the headphones. Anyway, I picked it up and it was still playing, so I plugged the earphones back in but there wasn't any sound. There also wasn't the little crackle you get from earphones whenever you plug them into anything, active or not, so I figured the earbuds were busted.

I turn it off and finish up on the bike, picking up some new earbuds on the way home. Today, when I turn it on to replace some of the music, it first wouldn't get past the little Creative logo screen. After a few more times of this, I take out the battery for a bit and then try again, whereupon it won't boot up at all. No power indication lights, no nothing.

I guess maybe one of the HDD heads did a faceplant onto the platter and fracked the platter... is ther eany other troubleshooting you guys know of that I could do to see if it's perhaps not head-crashed into oblivion? I assume this kind of damage isn't covered under Creative's warranty...

Man, and I still hadn't finished paying the CC bill on this.

Well, it's back to booting to the Creative logo screen and freezing up there. Still might be brickish...

I had this happen to one of the older creative zen micros I had to disassemble the thing and manually reset the heads as they were stuck in the read position but I think creative fixed that on one of the latter versions of the micro?
