She has twice now got a good running speed up and has run head first into a cardboard box I have on the floor with an audible thud each time!

Don't know WTF has gotten into to her

maybe she's just unhappy to be your pet, and want to just off herself...

Awww! Cute Kitty! Don't you know? Cardboard boxes drive cats mad. Mine chew up boxes.

Is it blind?
My cat went blind when he got old. He would follow the walls to go somewhere and had a hard time in the stairs. He would also bang his head on the chair's legs.

That's normal. To cats, cardboard boxes are like crack, heroin, and nicotine combined. If there is a box on the floor, it is literally impossible to resist jumping on it, crawling inside, dragging it around, sleeping in it, and fighting over it. When I got some shevles for my bathroom, they came in a cardboard box. Being lazy, I didn't throw them away for a while. Each day, I would find the enormous box in a different spot in the living room. Once in a while the cat would stick his head inside and then drag it around.

cats compared to humans are stupid, but don't have inferior intelligence level since they do no have any to begin with.
