I think my cat is planning on killing me

My wife and I have this tom cat that has been neutered. During the day he likes to sleep on top of the couch.

Here lately he likes to sleep on my pillow at night, just above my head. I woke up a couple of times last night, looked up, and he was sitting there watching me.

Is he is plotting some kind of revenge for having him neutered 6 or 7 years ago?

I think he is watching my sleeping patterns and is planning his attack when I am in a deep sleep and less likely to resist.

He is an outdoor-indoor cat, so maybe I should put him out at night? I usually put him out, but he has started hiding until my wife and I go to bed to come out.

If my hands are out from under the pillow or on top of the blanket, he bumps my hand with his head.

By bumping my hand with his head, I think he is testing to see how it takes me to wake up.

He acknowledges that your hands are a threat to his assault. You can't bite him effectively, but you could harm him if your hand intervenes. Thus, he knows he cannot attack while your hand is in his path.
