I have been working out for years and getting jock itch a lot, specially in the hot summers. I wear athletic boxer briefs which may be contributing to getting jock itch. However 2 months ago I bought a bidet and now I have only had one flare up of jock itch. I tried searching on line is bidets prevent jock itch but i cannot find anything. I actually thought it was the opposite and post shower I would use toilet paper to fully dry off my butt. Could it be the moisture it preventing it or just the fact that my bidet is getting rid of the germs that cause jock itch?

My doctor recommended Lamisil. It's OTC and I have been using it or the generic version (Terbinafine Hydrochloride) ever since. The instructions you see are to use for 2 weeks and if not effective refer back to your doctor. However, my doctor said it won't hurt you if you continue to use. He said he uses it himself. I order it online, whereever I can get it cheapest.

I use those creams when i get jock itch and would do it for the 1 or 2 weeks as directed but it would come back. So far so good with the bidet.

Interesting.

I've never had jock itch even with decades of having to wear a jock with cup to train. Jock itch is fungal. It's usually from the fungus on the feet getting on the underwear when putting them on.

I have been using vinegar in the laundry for a long time. And use soap with tea tree oil. Never touch public bathroom/shower room floors without flip flops on either.

Hmm, I do not have athlete's feet despite years of running since I don't hid my running shoes in a closet that does not breathe. I do wear flip flops if I use the shower at work or the gym since I got warts from it years ago and do not want to go through that again.

That is great you do not get jock itch. I used to get it all the time with running. I thought wearing synthetic underwear, e.g. athletic boxer briefs, caused it but I am speculating. It could be something else. I even made sure to wear boxers to bed but that did not make a difference.

Yeah, jock itch is caused by a fungal infection. A bidet shouldn't have anything to do with that other than making it easier to keep the environment clean and getting you to dry it, which would reduce the good environment for a fungus to grow.

I am also doubting the connection to the bidet and agree with DP, most likely the fugus came from your feet while putting briefs on. Could the water have washed the fungus away before it took hold? "Maybe", in a specially controlled experiment you could probably cause that to happen.

I cannot find any connection online but yet so far so good. Must be something else but interesting coincidence
