I think my A8N-E broke

When I woke up this morning, I quickly turned on my computer. I walked away then came back to see it was stuck on the "hit delete to go to setup" screen. I hit delete, nothing happened. So I restarted the comp, but this time it just beeped at me continually in a "beeeeeeeeeeeeeep beep beep beeeeeeeeeeeeep beep beep" tune and repeats. The creep did not post, just a blank screen. This happened before, last time I just shutdown the comp and started up and again and it would go away. This time it didn't. I thought it was the ram, so I swapped it and still the same beeping tune came with no posting. I didn't install anything critical that would affect bootup. Clearing cmos did nothing. I also switched the ram and still nothing. Anyone got any other ideas. Also thinking the mobo may be dead some how.

that's video i believe. i'd have to look it up tho, haven't done bios codes in awhile.

1 long, 2 short Indicates a video error has occurred and the BIOS cannot initialize the video screen to display any additional information

possibly? it's hard to say for sure without doing some testing. do you have another video card you can try?

is the fan still spinning on it?

Interesting, I called asus and they said it is the memory. One long and two short is ram. He also said that it can also be the memory controller on the cpu.

Update. I just unplugged my video card and ram and plugged them back in. Now all is well, lets just hope that this won't happen again.

cool glad to hear you have it working.

historically for award bios boards 1 long and 2 short is video. perhaps reseating it fixed it.
