I was crusing around my local beer market looking for a thank you gift for a friend that gave me a box full of really nice clothes and striderite shoes for my daughter.
He's a huge Bears fan and found this beer from Walter Paytons brewery in Aroura, where my friend is from as well.
It's the Imperial Bourbon Stout. I grabbed a pack for me too, and I just cracked one open. As I poured it into the glass the lights in the house started to dim and I think I actually saw it being sucked into the glass as the beer poured in.
Holding this thing up to the light yields no pass through. It's as black as the deepest abysses of the ocean. A mear drop of this would cloud an entire pint of lighter brews.
And then on to the tasting. It's certainly unique. A strong bourbon aroma fills the glass and nips at your taste buds, you can defintely taste the oak barrel aging. The beer itself is very balanced. Heavy malts, but well balanced with plenty of bitters to keep the sweetness down.
And the scary part is that I found the alcohol % of this stuff.....12%
A couple of these and you'll fall out of the barstool when you get up. I wouldn't have guessed that given how well they balanced the sweetness.

And finally...beer p0rn of an actual glass of it on my desk....
