its more P&N than your broke step daughter wanting to hump bareback

At least my thread had political overtones.

This thread does not even have cool pics in it.

Hang on a sec though, I'll get a pic of my and my wifes M4s.

Fireworks shows bore me except for the salutes. I'd go to a fireworks show that was nothing but salutes that made your insides rattle.

I have guns because I like things that go boom. The kick of solid firearm is a satisfying physical experience. I've found that an Mosin M44 with the proper ammo does the job well. My short barrel, pistol grip Mossberg 12ga does as well.

And what 'well regulated militia' do you gun owners actually belong to?

I'm an army of one. Just like the commercial says.

You didn't even read your own definition.

mi·li·tia noun \mə-ˈli-shə\
: a group of people who are not part of the armed forces of a country but are trained like soldiers

That says nothing about organized, or belonging to some government agency. It's a group of people who are trained like soldiers.

All those crazy right wingers and their bunkers? They're militia.

Would your stance on firearm ownership change if gun owners were required to complete some basic firearm training prior to owning guns (the "trained like soldiers" piece of the militia definition you posted)? Or are you opposed to gun ownership regardless of an individual's demonstrated competency with firearms (including not just use, but safety and security when handling and storing firearms)?

I believe every gun owner should have to train and register, pretty much like getting a drivers license. Nothing I say, wish, hope, etc will eliminate our nations rabid love for guns. I understand and accept that.
But maybe we should have more control over who legally owns/operates them?

Its a byproduct of the Second Amendment. Guns are an American right. Millions of people own guns, hundreds of millions of guns are in private hands. Again, guns are an American right. If the government ever decided to just take them like he described, it would not be pretty.

You can call it an argument for or against guns, that is your choice. Either way it is a fact.

How is it not? The alternative is you get steamrolled by a force you cannot repel. If not for arms America would still be part of England.

I'm just not seeing how "it can turn this problem into a much worse problem" is the best way to phrase your argument.

And youre putting that forward as an argument FOR guns? o_O

We have a history of that in this country. We fought a civil war when slavery was outlawed. We had a massive uptick in violent crime when alcohol was banned (to the point where it was subsequently unbanned 13 years later). If an attempt was made to ban guns, it would absolutely come with violent revolt. Is that an argument in favor of guns? Not so much as it's an argument against attempting to change the status quo without a damn good reason. Slavery was a good reason; alcohol wasn't. I don't think guns are either.

You're right, there's no modern historical precedence with regards to govts. disarming groups targeted for genocide:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_legislation_in_Germany

On November 11, 1938, the Minister of the Interior, Wilhelm Frick, promulgated Regulations Against Jews' Possession of Weapons. This regulation effectively deprived all Jews living in those locations of the right to possess firearms or other weapons.[5]

The fact that we're discussing just HOW bloody another american civil war would be just proves how great a deterrent against tyranny the general public owning firearms is.

It just really chaps statists' collective asses that there's a hard counter against completely centralized power/tyranny in the US, doesn't it?

My mistake. I added the word "organized" I rescind that now. However thinking of unorganized groups toting guns doesn't make it better

I am far from a gun grabber but this forum needed another gun thread like I need a JHP to the head. Nice rehash of all the same shit I've read on this forum hundreds of times in the less than 5 years I've been here.

To add to your discussion.
This is how the media sees firearms. These classifications are incorrect.

This is totally awesome and completely new to me. Exactly the type of high caliber post I expect from this thread.

Sorry mate, I didnt think that that was particularly NSFW.

Its just two dudes with their tops off and a gun.

Two humans that are naked and kissing would be considered a NSFW image. A link with a NSFW warning next to it would be fine, but not inline man.
