Last week..i didn't sleep on Sunday, and didnt' sleep on Tuesday.

Didn't sleep on Wednesday until like...8am.

last night..didn't sleep til 7am..woke up at 8am for a 9 hour day of working (standing ALL day).

is something wrong with me?? I'm not like..tired duriing the time that i'm awake...but at some point it just hits me and i conk out. Why's my sleep schedule so messed up? I'm just awake all those nights..not partying..not hanging out..nothing. Just up...sitting around..watching tv, or on the computer or just...sitting.

this isn't going to cause any lasting problems is it?

nah..still here. prolly not going to sleep til much later...(but i think i'm tired enough to not stay up al night again...i hope)

Anything happened recently that's caused stress or made you worry? Maybe even something you don't realize? That can cause insomnia like you're describing.

Then don't sleep. Do what you feel is right.

Insomnia sucks 🙁 I've had it off and on since February and when it comes, I can't sleep for >3 hrs/night. Tried a variety of sleep aids and nothing works.

I saw this video in my psych class last spring that featured a guy whose brain malfunctioned and the 'switch' that controlled his sleep basically stuck in the off position. It's a crude description, but that's basically what happened.

He could not fall asleep. He ended up dying of malnutrition and muscular degeneration after something like 149 days straight of no sleep. It was very disturbing and I found it extremely hard to watch. Seeing him in the hospital bed moaning after something like 50 days of no sleep was simply frightening.

Looks like it's going to be another night of sleeplessness....

i was sooooo tired before at like...11:30..

now...i'm tired..but not on the verge of passing out. and i know for a fact that if i try to sleep..i'll just lie awake staring up at the sticky stars on the ceiling.

sigh..this is getting really bad. If i stay up tonight..my sleepless hour count will be way over 24 hours.

crap.

I wish I could be like you, been sleeping ~6 hours a night for almost a year...I have to take naps on school days just to keep my brain from crapping out on me before I go to sleep later.

Usually, you will get back into a normal sleep rythmn....just give it time. It's almost counterproductive thinking about it. I've learned to control my sleep cycle working 11pm-7am for almost 13 years. During the work week, I usually only sleep maybe 5 or 6 hours, but sometimes I have a huge sleep and sleep for 20 hours or more. My record is 28 hours. 😉

Are you in an enviroment that is condusive to sleep, or is it noisy, or people waking you up a lot?

are you unemployed? cause if you were working you'd be more tired at the end of the day.

I think its the opposite, well for me anyway. When I am doing lots of things all day long, I require less sleep. If I am doing nothing all day long, I will feel much more tired.

I go through a similar sleep situation occasionally, it's best just to go to sleep when you're tired, like at 11:30, even if it seems too early. Seems like if you fight off the first wave of needing to sleep, it's really hard to wind down again later.

usually I find a good way to solve this problem is to have sex before sleeping....really tires you out and puts the mind at ease for a great sleep

Masturbation is not the solution to all problems.

maybe you're just too lazy to sleep? haha there are times where i just don't want to close my eyes and turn over, i'd be perfectly fine just sitting in front of the tube, of course i end up fall asleep.

oh yea, in my psych class i remember my professor saying that the only part of yoru body that needs sleep is your brain, everything else should function fine. of course, your brain can shut you down, make your muscles feel weak, etc.
