Hello,

I just upgraded my mb, ram and cpu. Unfortunately I have a Rage Fury Maxx which I had assumed wouldnt work on XP because of the driver problems. To my surprise, when XP loaded up for the first time, the Maxx SEEMED to be working fine.

At first I noticed that the screen jumped from frame to frame it seems, especially when scrolling(i.e. this forum). I then noticed that some things on the task bar are blurry.

Then I started getting a head ache. I dont get headaches playing games, but I am starting to feel one coming on as I risk getting on this computer at this very moment. I think this is obviously a problem with my vid card. I have my refresh rate at a 100, and I have tried a few settings lower than that.

If it matters, I have a epox 8k7a, 1.4 Tbird, 512 crucial ram.

Im sitting about 5 feet away from my 19 inch KDS visual sensation monitor but I still feel the effects. I heard you can lessen the effects of problems such as this.

I just spent over 350 bucks upgrading(including a 400 watt ps), and I really dont want to buy a vid card.

Is there ANY way I can the Rage Furry Maxx 64 to work with XP(I will not reinstall Millenium). If not what is a low cost vid card that I can get that works just fine with XP?

Thank you... Im starting to feel sick now, time to take a break.

Ah, another victim of the Rage Fury Maxx.
I heard there was a driver hack that could be done to disable one of the ATi Rage 128Pro chips on the MAXX card to get it to work in 2D.
You might try an ATi specific forum for more information about that... I only distantly recall it and I'm not sure how it'd be done.

Personally, I'd just replace the card with a decent low cost gamers card.
The ATi Radeon LE is quite cheap and performs very nicely given the cost.

Rage Fury Maxx Win2k instructions can be found here.

It should work in WinXP as well, but the Maxx will run as a Rage Fury Pro, (single core) not dual cored.
