I think I'm going to buy stock in Nintendo...

I have a feeling that the Revolution is going to be huge when it hits the market... anyone else thinking Nintendo is going to grow by leaps and bounds?

1 Year Snapshot of Stock

while it has gone up significantly over the last few months with the anticipation of the Revolution, I don't think it has apexed.

Nintendo has it's loyal fanbase to always keep Nintendo in the black. But unfortunately, the casual gamer would rather have violence and sex than truly innovative gaming the Revolution will bring.

well that is where i think the revolution will mix things up a bit. it will bring an entire new audience into the spectrum.

It depends on what happens. Right now I think they're in a position to either gain or loose a significant amount depending on sales of current products and if the Revolution is a success. I think they're still a good company for the long term.

hmm i'd wait on purchasing stock.... you have to see how the next generation consoles will deal out in the new few months prior to the revolution release.

Sony is releasing PS3 and XBOX 360 is at its early EXPENSIVE beginnings... things might change once prices fall and stablize and more games are released.

... Sony is trying to capture the handheld market so you should see what that does to Nintendo's stock.

In summary, watch the stocks closely before you blow your load and it falls.

i'd probably just throw like 800 bucks at it, i don't have a lot of money to invest right now. but I could handle losing a couple hundred.

Save your money. That amount isn't even worth the cost of commissions.

scott trade ftw 🙂

on the DS alone, I would invest in Nintendo. Right now, the DS has a comfortable lead, and has been outselling the PSP ever since launch. However, it's about to sell alot more once the DS Light comes out, and the north american PSP owners start dumping their PSPs due to a dwindling 3rd party support.

A loyal fanbase is something all three console makers have. What keeps them in the black are two things in particular:

1) They don't bet the farm every time they launch a new console. Sony and Microsoft will be losing tons of money on each console sold; Nintendo may still lose money, but nowhere near as much.

2) They dominate the handheld market. The PSP is a great item, but it is new. Game Boys have been around for over a decade.

Oh boy!!! I get to make happy little clouds and some great looking trees!! I get to make some friends for the trees too!

This is funny news though..I assume you'll wave the controller to paint the screen. I wonder if you gotta wave the controller around and hit something to clean the brush like Bob used to do.

I personally have liked Nintendo only for their handheld Gameboy line (don't like DS compared to PSP), but I think the Revolution will do fairly well. Even after (if?) the PS3 comes out, the Revolution should be fine since it has a different asthetic (couldn't think of a better word) than the Xbox 360 or PS3.

Speculating will not make you money! See what is happening to GOOG?

No one can predict the future because the future is unpredictable. Speculating can and does make a lot of people a lot of money.

Doing your homework on a company isn't speculating. Through good financial analysis you can get a pretty good idea about whether something might be a good investment or not. I need to take a look at Nintendo, it might be an interesting play on next gen gaming. DS sales in Japan are also very nice right now.
