A laughable article at best. Sorry but Motor Trend is terribly biased in all of their reviews. You may think Mr. Pobst is the epitomy of car reviewers, but I don't see it.
I guess to the 15 year old that always dreamed of a corvette as being their dream car it is an exotic with the best performance .... to the rest of us that have grown up and realized there are other cars out there that offer a better experience. Some with better numbers, some with worse. Just a car that if some says... hey I bought a vette, I'd figure he isn't a car guy and bought an auto with the shiny wheels.B...b...b...but!! The cheap plastic! The feel! I mean yeah, it's one of the best handling, most competent track cars out there, b-b-bu...the feel! And everyone owns one! Not like those ultra-rare, exclusive EVOs and S2000s! How will I EVER garner the respect of the Fast and the Furious crowd?? Would I EVER be able to wipe my mouth and look up at Jeremy Clarkson again?!?
WON'T SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!

For a driver's car that you sit in every day, these complaints about the interior are extremely valid. I can't believe the time and effort they put into the chassis, yet do nothing for the interior.
I wonder if they don't want the vette to compete with the cadillac xlr.
There are plenty of reasons to not own a vette other than the cheap plastic rattling interior, too many diehards try to act like if you want ANYTHING other than a vette that you must be an elitist asshole.
I'm curious if you have ever owned one or driven one.
I had a 07 Z06 and it didn't have 1 single rattle. Believe me, I am very picky about random noises, they drive me insane... my car had none of them
Could the interior be better? Sure, but at the same time i liked the minimalistic look and as far as comfort goes, you really have no clue unless you have owned and driven one long distances. I drove mine 15 hours straight from Tampa to Virginia when I bought it. I didn't stop because there wasn't a point where my ass hurt, my back hurt, or I was uncomfortable in any way. I can't say the same about my 07 Acura, 02 Denali, or my 12 Acura (all in which my ass hurts after a few hours).
The engineers focused on the chassis and drive line. You can't expect to have everything from the inside out for 75k (MSRP for the Z06 back then... they have gone up a little bit since then).
What I find funny, is that a lot of people who complain or knock down the C6 are people who really have no clue.
I have driven a c6 (~2009 non z06) for ~50 miles up in the mountains and been a passenger in a slightly older - maybe 06 c6, for a few hours.
The rattles weren't that terrible, really, but the overall 'cheap' feel of switches and buttons, and appearance of the inside is abysmal.
At $75k I definitely do feel like they could have done a MUCH better job without any increase in cost. My issue isn't with it being minimalistic either.
please do find me a car for 75k that equates to a C6 Z06 in chassis and performance (7:22.68 Nürburgring, 7:42.99 stock tires) while not having a "cheap" interior
You serious? Just about every ~75k sports car is comparable in performance while having a much better interior. $75k is base 911 territory. Hell, my "cheap" z4 m has a much MUCH better quality and laid out interior than a c6 z06 and is very close in performance.
No doubt that it's the "budget sports car" leader, but some of you make out like there's flat out nothing wrong with the interior and there were no compromises....
The interior sucks. Yes, it's a fast car. Yes, it posts amazing tracktimes for its price, but they certainly could've spent some more design hours on the interior considering it's not generally used as a purist track car. I'm not wanting mink carpet and leather dash, just slightly better quality controls and more thought put into overall layout.
To be fair, he did specify something with that 'ring time - from what I can find, the Z4M is north of 8 minutes. The 2012 Porsche Carrera S is 7:40 (at $96k).
With stock tires they are within 20 seconds (I believe?) of each other. In an 8 minute lap time, 20 seconds is not much at all for a daily driver-type car, certainly (IMO) in the same league considering that the 'ring caters to high horsepower cars with its huge straights.
In other words, this track is not indicative of real world 'mountain' driving. Either way, there's an e46 m3 with sub 8 minute times, cts-v, lancers, older 911s which are well within the price range.
I'm not trying to 'dog' the vette as much as I am saying ok... it's a great car, fantastic power, handling, etc... Why not spend more time on the interior design? It's the one glaring flaw (and it is a glaring flaw...) that makes this much less of a daily driver than it otherwise would be.

GM said they focused on the interior on the new C7 Corvette, so you should see a big improvement on the next model.
As for the C6 and older, I do agree with you that the interior isn't great, but I wouldn't say it's horrible either.

They'll find something else to hate on. Over and over and over and over...
Corvette emblem isn't as "cool" or "refined" as a Porsche/Ferrari/Lamborghini emblem?

Like what?
Personally, I don't care about the hood/bumpers caving or whatever.. This is something that's expected on a lightweight budget sports car.
I don't care about the actual materials of the interior either, it's the overall design and apparent total lack of thought that I have issues with.
