I don't have $25,000, so the fact that I want it is fairly irrelevant for the time being, but it jsut seems like such a useful car. It's fast enough to be fun to drive, it's all wheel drive so I can take it up to the mountains without having to stop in the snow to put chains on. It's got enough room for four people in it, and it looks good with bikes or snowboards on the roof. Maybe my next new car in... oh, 2007 or so.

I'd rather get the Dodge Magnum wagon. Though thats a bit more but more spacious.

At 25k you are just a few thousand away from the Legacy GT wagon. Just as quick. Much, much roomier, and has the potential to be just as easily powerful as the STi.

:)

That'd be my choice.

CorporateRecreation has been looking at that car too, seems like a good choice :D

Actually, he was looking at the Legacy GT wagon or something I think

Four people might be pushing it a bit, especially if you have ski gear in there too. But otherwise its a fine choice.

good choice!

I have 2 co-workers with a wrx wagon. it's perfect, like you said, fun to drive, no chains in snow, and great for climbing trips.

The resale on the Saab will be horrid - he'll be able to pick a used one up on the cheap :)

I have an impreza wagon. Non turbo.
Great vehicle, I put 40K miles on it in a year and it runs mint.

not when everyone knows that it's a saabaru. just like geo prizm and the pontiac vibe. sure their resale are never as good as the original, but they still hold their price pretty well.

Personally, I would love a Subaru WRX STI. I've heard that they can do 0-60 in four seconds or less with a tuned exhaust and a cold-air intake, and some high-quality synthetic oil (which can give you an extra 10hp on a new car).
Then again, if you're not rich (we're not!) the Mazda 3 is an excellent automobile. We own a hatchback with leather and the 160HP engine, and only paid 16,200$ for it. (WOOT!) The sedan (which can be had for a miserly 12,000) is actually quite zippy with the 148hp engine, and with some minor improvements is a VERY fast car. Best of all, the Mazda's get great fuel economy-30mpg with the sedan!

ok, where did you find the 3 5door for that price w/ the leather? best i can get a deal to do is 16500 for the standard, no options (outisde of wheel locks which every dealer here puts on, and i dont mind) car - i mean, not a bad price considering what you're getting, but still, way too much when you got one w/ leather and i assume another package or 2 for that price?!?

btw, i do think the 3 is a great alternative to the wrx, a lil cheaper, a lil slower, but still a ton of fun to drive and can handle more than your average car carrying ability

Yeah I'd like one too. I am kind of liking performance wagons now, not that there are many of them. I'd rather a magnum though.
