i don't think those are their highest tiers. i think i've seen 100mbps offered on both comcast and twc

Right, I said 50+ because I haven't investigated too much. I'm sure 100mbps is available as well. My point was, it doesn't take FIOS in the area for them to offer those plans.

after 3 separate near 1 hour long calls w/ the company, they tell me that the modem is broken (i.e. not communicating properly) and I should go in to exchange it...I don't understand why they couldn't figure that out a month ago.

EDIT: Also, the tech support guy was trying to convince me that I shouldn't be running their "modem/router" through another router...it took me 10 minutes to explain to him that I only had a time warner modem, not a modem/router combo...literally made to tell me that modem does not have any antennae and that there is one single port in the back.

I got speeds like that one time before with TW. I had water in the line from the pole to the house.... took two or three years to get that bad but the tech did a bad install from the poll.

Seriously, CA19100, are you crazy or just living on fantasy island? When you say, "Have you called them? Something's broken. They'll fix it!"

I've had slow broadband. That's not slow, that's broken. That goes way beyond oversubscribed.

I anxiously await Lemon law's retraction and apology.

I agree it sounds like he has a hardware problem. Even with water in the lines mine never got that bad.

Just today I ditched Verizon DSL to go with Comcast. Verizon was giving me 3mb for $30/mo., and Comcast offered 12mb for $20/mo. for 1 year, then it goes up to $35. Still, $5 more for 5x the speed ??? Uhhh, yea, sign me up !!

5x the speed huh ?? Hah ... wow.

It will drop tonight once the neighborhood punks get online, but .. ya, I consider this a big upgrade.

My condo village is setup for FIOS and cable internet, as well as cable, FIOS, and satellite TV. I just have cable internet 'cause it's the cheapest. FIOS always give you extra speed for the money (pay for 35Mb/s, get 40Mb/s speed) but I don't need it that fast, so I drop it down to 10Mb/s cable.
