I think I might like the movie Troy.

AMC's been showing Troy basically every other timeslot this past week, and after my fifth viewing, it's starting to win me over. Sure, Brad Pitt's "generic ancient" accent sounds like somebody hitting a baby with a cat, and Helen looks like a down-on-her-luck stripper, but dammit all if it's not entertaining.

The scene where Hector kills [some Greek named after a popular cleanser] and screams "FORWARD!!", and the Trojan army starts pushing forward and wrecking the Greek one, it kicked major ass.

I felt it was important to share this.

edit: Spoiler cleverly masked

edit 2: I'm not gay

i didn't care for it too much the first time i saw it, just seemed generic.

after recently reading a helen of troy book, it was fun to watch it again just to see what was accurate. it was actually enjoyable watching it that time.

Am I the only one that read that title as "Tron" instead of "Troy"?

I got all the way to the end of that movie (Pitt's character was about to have his tendon cut *I think*) and the stupid Netflix DVD was scratched so I never saw it. I've never bothered to grab another copy to catch the ending for some odd reason....don't really know why.

I had the same thing happen with Garden State (not Netflix, but other than that). I think I finally got around to watching the whole thing a year and a half later.

I really like the movie. Battle scenes are great and ancient Greek history is interesting to me, regardless how close the movie is based on it. If it was based exactly on The Iliad it might be boring anyway (never read The Iliad).

NO. Haha. She is hot, same with Hector's wife.

I hate the fact taht they messed up the actual story.

Paris DOES kill Achilles in the book, my friend.

If anyone hasn't read the book, they should do so immediately. It's still popular after 2000 years for a reason.

There's 2 versions. In one, Paris shoots a poison arrow that hits Achilles in the heel, and yeah the arrow was guided by Apollo. However, Paris is identified as the dude who shot it.

There's some other version where Paris directly stabs Achilles in the heel with a knife. That version is stupid.
