Yeah, you have to remember that if the civic didn't have any mods, and if the driver wasn't a very good driver, it would make sense that I had a chance to beat him.

Still, it was pretty funny. My Jetta has NO power, lol.

I had something similar happen to me yesterday evening! The weather here in MO was so nice I got out my '67 GTX and went for a cruise through the countryside.......I came to this medium sized town and was at a four way. There was very little traffic at that time and shortly some purple little ricer with gold spokes and some huge ass whale tail rear spoiler pulled up beside me with music loud as hell! He sat there and started revving his lil' putt-putt enigine that sounded more like my outboard than anything! LOL! He motioned to me and although I'm now in my 30's......I thought WTF! The light turned and I never did see what happened to that little thing! I got a pretty good hole shot and have very little slippage with my GTX.......I swear I was so far ahead of that thing by what I figured was the 1/4.......I had to stop and laugh!:) They finally came by with that little engine screaming.......and the little bastards flipped me off!:|:| The way I see it, these little ricers don't have a clue as to what real racing is and are just pissed as hell when they get a taste of it!:):):)

Yeah, Ricers are chauvinistic bastards. When a Decked out Mustang Mach 1 gets beat fair and square, he'll act like a gentlemen, and congradulate the victor in most cases....but Ricers flip you off cus they are lame dick eaters

Heheh, I love it when my PoS 92' Lumina whomps on some stupid little 4-banger with stickers.

Of course, they like to do the hand motions and try to intimidate you that way. sigh.

I don't get it, if a bigass heavy car with a small V6 can beat your "super powa raca", what CAN it beat?!

Sigh. oh well. :) I'll have more fun in a year or two when I get my CV PI, a friend who works in law enforcement is selling his, and he can even keep most of the lights on it. :) (it's an undercover car). Should be good for some laughs.

<< Hahahha I love stories of ricers getting beat. Muahhaha! Keep em comin' >>

This is my favorite anti rice story;

A while back I was driving around a volvo 740 turbo. I'm sure you've seen these cars, they are rolling bricks, but have good kick to them. Anyways, I pull up at a stoplight beside some black guy in a lowered civic hb, typical tinted windows, loud exhaust, etc. We look over at each other and know whats up. Light turns green, I just punch the gas, no brake torque launch or anything. Off the line, I could hear his engine over mine cause of his damn exhaust. I pull cleanly on his ass and just pile on the car lengths until I have a couple hundred feet on him. By the time I hit the next light, the civic is taking his sweet time and makes a right. I guess he didn't want seconds :D

damn. I can't wait for my car to get its new charger this week then my 90 corrado g60 will have some oomph. must be patient, must wait.

Only making 12lbs of boost right now, should be back to normal with 15-16lbs next week.

Then i'll be able to run some hondas.

bleh. actually theres no rice down in the city, just nice cars to race.

well, here's another rice-beater story (not as great as yours though),

We stopped at a red, me in a '89 MB 300E stock except cd-changer. him in typical riced out civic 'type R'. light turns green, I start on second gear and surprisingly pulled away from him like he accidently set his car to neutral. we met up at the lights 3 streets down, he rolled down the window asking me what I have under the hood! I was laughing to hard and couldn't think at the time so I said "I put a type R sticker on my engine". hehe.

I don't like riced out cars either but I don't believe half the stories here. I mean were you redlining it the whole way? I mean I'm sure I could beat a lot more powerful cars if I were constantly at 8000 rpms but my car would last like 6 months. Don't believe anything until you see it cause I've also heard ridiculous stories of accords and civics beating camaros and mustangs. It just depends on the the type of forum you're on but I've heard some crazy stories from both sides. Don't have to wonder if he let you pass or not how did the guys engine sound? You can tell from that whether he let you pass or not. And there is no way regardless of what car or driver you are racing that you could actually stop and laugh before they caught up so these stories are definitely stretched.

Phil: I have a 91 GP with a 3.1. I know EXACTLY what you're talking about. For me the best place to outrun them (and the most common) is hills. Hills love torque.

OK Holden J Ricer.............Whatever!;) I'd like to know what makes you think that after going about a 1/4 mile I couldn't have chuckled to myself, pulled to the shoulder and got out before they got there????? Pretty damned common thing.......if you actually knew anything at all about street racing! Only thing is, these guys weren't racing.......they were "wanna be's" whom made a mistake and thought they could take an older boxier Muscle Car! They got beat.....and beat BADLY.....then, they didn't even have the gonads to stop and talk......Oh No.......they just took the mentality it seems most of these type take and if they get beat......they just take their wanna be race cars and limp home!;) Ever heard of Hemi Mr. Holden Ricer???? I thought not! Man.....if you even had a clue about what you're trying to talk about you'd be dangerous!;) ROFLMAO!:):):)

Ricer's piss me off because of the attitude they portray. Just stupid little ghetto wanna-be's who think their hard. Or if you prefer, worthless piles of crap.

There are a VERY few actual enthuisiasts I've seen that tend to mess with cars in the rice-sorta-way. These people have stuff under the hood as well though, and more importantly a good, respectful attitude.

Every time I see some stupid Ghetto'ized car sitting sideways in the parking lot of a fast food join, and I have this almost unresistable urge to key the hell out of it. Am I jealous? Hell no. I'm pissed at these little idiots that think their hard asses. Be a respectful individual, and I could care less what you do.

I think the general attitude of little rice babies can be summed up in this one experience I had with them. First I pull into wendy's and watch this crappy honda screech in, and these little ghetto wannabe "gangsta's" (asian guys, and one white guy). Then I get to sit there and try not to say anything to them, while their in line saying how they race their "souped up" little rice cars for pink slips and such. This one idiot goes on to say how he races for head from the other guys girlfriend. WTF? If I had a gun, right then he woulda been shot. Of course, they refused to race for pink slips with a co-worker of mine's porsche boxter (I think? carrera? er..). This is AFTER they said they could beat a Viper GTS, and went on to tell everyone in the resturant how the did this, and that this guy was a pussy and good suck their d1cks.

It's all in the attitude. If ricers had a good attitude, and still made their cars look like that I doubt anyone would care. But, they want to try to portray this hardass attitude, and this is what makes them so many enemies.

I feel I'm doing a public service every time I beat one of these idiots who's asking for it with a PoS car that was made with racing as the #45,432th priority. Perhaps they'll either get so depressed they'll kill themselves (I'd be so lucky), or better yet learn how they are wasting their lives, and perhaps change.

Anyways, done with rant. :)

ToBeMe did you not hear me say that I don't like ricers. Hate the stickers, wannabe phony types, the loud colors, crazy body kits, paint jobs, you name it. But I'll have to give credit where credit is due and I've seen a relatively normal looking prelude with the 2.3L H23A1 engine block with the vtec's Cylinder Head, Camshafts, Cam Gears, Timing Belts, Head Gasket, Solenoid, Timing Belt Pulley on the Crankshaft, ECU, intake and exhaust manifold race respectably with rear wheel cars with over twice the displacement. You can't really ever expect a 2.3 4cyl front wheel drive to beat something with over twice the displacement but running a 2.2 or 2.3 L that fast is absolutely incredible. I'm definitely not a racer, just someone with an interest in cars and a joy of watching races. I've seen enough races to know that ToBeMe has some crazy pipe dreams. Nope, nope, nope what you described could not happen unless the guy you raced just started driving the day before. Never will. STFU if you're going to lie.

You're the one whom needs to STFU! and FOAD! I've been doing this since I was 17 and still have two of the cars I had since then, my '67 Plymouth GTX and my '70 340 Duster! I have been racing 1/4 mile and 1/8 mile street and tracks since then and will wager anyone whom knows about racing here at A/T will concur exactly with what I say! When "street racing" you will normally run the 1/4 mile or whatever distance you're racing, and then let off and relatively coast a little ways more to a convienient spot and pull over and basicly BS about the race you just had! That's exactly what I did and the little SOB just flew by and flipped me off like some ignorant ass! Now....What part of this you can't quite comprhend I'm not sure, but grow up and do a bit more research into things you don't understand before you try and tell someone whom has done this for years anything about it!;) :D Damn kid.......I'm embarrassed for you.....:disgust:

holden- why would I post the story if it was stretched? I mean, he COULD have let me pass, but I don't think he did. I couldn't tell from the sound of his engine because I was hearing my engine. Redline-no, I wasn't quite there, but I did need to shift, lol.

I think if you were in the car with me you would have thought the same thing I have. I just think the car was riced-out really bad with no mods on it at all. So, I beleive it is very feasible for me to "win". He could have been just a lousy driver.

<< what you described could not happen unless the guy you raced just started driving the day before. >>

There are two hondas parked in my garage, one '89 accord, one '01 civic. They are both SLOW AS ASS off the line. What ToBeMe described is perfectly possible, in fact it happened to me (minus the attitude and giving the finger). I pulled up beside a blonde chick driving a dodge magnum v8 truck, in my accord. The instant I saw that V8 magnum badge, I knew FOR A FACT that I was fcked, but being the dumbass I am I went for it. She smoked my ass so freaking hard it was not funny. I might as well not even have tried. Needless to say, I try really hard not to stoplight race people in my accord these days.

That's one thing I've noticed with the honda line, slow off the line because of he chronic torque-less engines.
Not to say my car is much better (1986 Parisienne with a 305/5l Chevy :)), but it pulls hard off the line, and it keeps on pulling nicely.
I don't think I've ever hit 5000rpm in it, in all of it's 182k :Q

You know I had to read a few posts before I figured out what a ricer is. We just don't see allot of tricked out imports here in the MotorCity. Maybe I'm just clueless. One of the fastest cars I ever saw off the line was a buddy of mine's 440 GTX.
