Decades ago I had already come to the conclusion that American women are terrible. And upspeak is one of the reasons for that. However, since about a year I have a new job. And we have regular phone-meetings with colleagues in California. And I swear to god, my male colleagues are all starting to speak with this upspeak-deficiency. WTF ? It makes it really hard to take anything they say serious.

My cousin is terrible like that. I noticed it more than forty years ago. Everything she says sounds like a question. I always thought it was a southern thing, as she grew up in Nashville.

It's not southern. It's white yuppy trash stupid. Really not limited by location. Sad part is that the parents allow it or it wouldn't happen. The first time my kid called me 'dude' he lost all his electronics for a day.
