I've noticed that for a long time that the placement of a standard mouse and keyboard is not ideal for anybody. Most people I encounter keep their mouse to the right of them simply because the computer assumes everyone is right handed unless you tell it otherwise and they don't know about that feature. So while mice are predominately right handed, the keyboards seem to be left handed. Why? Well because I notice that I have to tilt my keyboard or my wrists to the left in order to fit the mouse next to the right of the keyboard since I'm right handed. However there is a problem with this.
Keyboards today keep the number pad and special functions to the right of the keyboard and since most keep the mouse to the right, what you end up with is a wide distance between the keyboard and the mouse. In order to type "safely" you either have to position the keyboard area where you type central to you and get the mouse out of the way or place the mouse on the left side of the keyboard.
Well the question is, if most people are right handed, why isn't the number pad on the left side of the keyboard? That way you could keep the mouse on the right side while also being able to position the typing area central to yourself.
Or you could get a separate number pad but that doesn't seem to be a common/popular thing especially since most nice keyboards have the numberpad integrated.
