I'm going to Spangdahlem for some training, I know a few people that's been living there for a bit, and love beer, so I plan to just try whatever they suggest.

Bitburg has some microbreweries that make great hefe wiesin..... I forsee happy times for you. I was stationed there for almost 5 years in Ludwigsburg.

I actually don't really like hops, so IPA's don't do it for me D:

Ah, I love me some hops, the more bitter the better. Oh well, at least you can count on Three Floyd's to give you some cool bottle art.

Hell yeah. I went out to Dark Lord Day 2 years ago and was about 100 spots in line past where they ran out 🙁 Then last year I missed on the golden tickets. This year I'm watching like a hawk for my roommate and I to get some fucking dark lord.

Outstanding! And I happen to be going through a bit of a Hefe phase atm 😀

I just don't understand spending that much money on a single bottle. I guess for true beer drinkers it's like wine collectors and their hundred+ bottles of wine. I drink and enjoy a lot of different types of alcohol. But I wouldn't spend that much money.

I drink beer to get plastered, not enjoy it. Partially fermented anything tastes like garbage.

Beer, wine, liquor 'connoisseurs' are all full of bs.

German wheats are pretty nice. But if haven't tasted gouden carolus grand cru dior, you haven't tasted the best.

words of the uninitiated. but if all you have experienced is natty light and beast light, i can understand why you might feel that way.

most bottles that size are 11-15% alcohol. you only need one bottle to have a good night. quality is far better than quantity.

Ooh I'm a big fan of the Rogue line. My favorite of theirs is "Shakespeare Stout" and their Chocolate Stout, both are incredibly delicious but a little on the pricey side.

if you are a stout fan you absolutely must try youngs double chocolate stout and sams smith oatmeal stout. both are malty goodness personified.

A Weizenbier direct from Deutschland. But it's $15 a bottle!

Extremly smooth but with plenty of character, the coloration is perfect. Great head!...*snicker* Everything's just so balanced.

I can't wait for my two week trip to Germany next month.

--edit--
But I just finished the bottle, and I have no buzz 🙁
time for the hefe!

Surely, you must be JoeKing.

You are spot on. Those 2 are my favorites and really anything from weyerbacher. As for IPAs I do like Blue Point's hoptical illusion.

I had some beer from SF brewery tonight that was excellent. One was brewed with orange and the other was brewed with some spices that I couldn't identify.

As Ian Fleming wrote - the best drink of the day is the one you have in your head before the first drink of the day...

Lmao, you are a fucking moron. There are HUGE variances in beer tastes. The flavors are unimaginable to the average macro drinker.

Edit - Just to stress how fucking dumb you are. Ridiculously wrong!

Oofta... sounds tasty :awe:

Yeah, I missed out tonight, but I'll hit up Binny's tomorrow.

Did not like the chocolate stout, but Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout... yummy!

I've had it, its ok. Not my cup of tea though. To each his own!

Tonight I had some Rouge Chipotle Ale at a latin place. Awesome jalapeno flavor along with my spicy food. Good good stuff.

I love people who feel the need to chime in with what boils down to "you have a hobby that I don't understand so rather than educate myself about it or recognize that different people have different interests, I'm just going to insult your hobby and call you an idiot for enjoying something different than me." Congratulations, you're a douchebag, and worse, a douchebag with so little going on in their actual lives that they spend their time belittling others on the internet rather than doing something productive with their lives. You're a winner!

As far as beer goes, I have to give some love to the Belgians at this point, because, let's face it, if you have some Westmalle, some Rochefort, some Chimay, some St. Bernardus and some Piraat, you've got a great weekend to look forward to. And for you folks who don't like IPAs, I can see where you're coming from (though I disagree), but try mixing equal parts of Stone Ruination IPA and Stone Smoked Porter; it makes just about the best black and tan I've ever had.
