See, you're a dick. It's not your job to tattle tale on the guy. Your job is to fix the tablet, then send it back.

Now, I am not condoning looking at porn on the clock, but you sir are a giant fvcking tool.

so he's supposed to let the fact that there's a good chance that there's a virus running around on their network go? you're the fvcking tool

QFT.

no, my job is to warn the customer that there is a virus existing on their machine, and to make them aware that it could infect the rest of their network. She asked me to look into the cookies and waa laa.

fvck you dude

just admit it.. You were snooping like a girl and found it. Should of just said that it had a virus and cleaned it, no questions. Thanks for ruining someone's life..

a tool? no the tool is teh asshat that is looking at porn on a computer that is not his. He recieved a virus that could have spread throughout the company. NOT to mention if the guy starts downloading illiegal porn it could land the company in trouble.

hopefully the guy got fired. if you want to look at porn buy a computer and look at it at home while off teh clock.

I think that person ruined their own life by surfing for pr0n on their company provided tablet and allowed it to get infected with a virus. You're simply blaming the messenger (the OP in this case).

only person that ruined anyones life is the idiot that downloaded porn on a company's property.

don't want to get in trouble for looking at porn? download it on your own personal property!

Wow, Just, Wow

So if they guy had, let's say child porn, or a plan to blow up a building in it. Would it be ok to tell someone about it then?

Or let's say your friend found some info on a guys computer that showed he was sleeping with your wife or GF. Should he tell you then? You can't say yes if you think what redly1 did was wrong.

I think I'm with this guy. I don't think I would have been narcing on the guy. 1st thing i would do is clean cache/cookies and history, and then tell the IT person that I had already performed standard cleanup on the PC while troubleshooting it.

the guy shouldn't have been using the company's pc to do it. i'd like to see how stuff would look on my blackberry (purely for scientific purposes i assure you) but i've never come close to typing www.(something else).com because it isn't my property.

btw, what sites did he browse? Give the rest of us a warning😀

If I had a quarter for everytime I found smut on a VP's or staff level computer, I could start my own porn site and let you guys download it for free 🙂

Surfing no job orientated sites are what likely caused the problem in the first place, so the tech is obliged to report it. Just don't let me catch you surfing porn on my network. You'll find your web-browser home page set for a nice gay-XXX site, and the registry locked 50 different ways so you can't change it. Works every time.

pr0n is for personal computers, not work ones. Good for you, Tool.

QFT

I can tell you for a fact that there's most likely some porn on my home PC (okay, so it's almost sure fire bet). But I can guarentee that there's none on my work one.

He did the right thing. He gave analysis for why the computer was hosed. A gcomputer that has to be taken offline because of defect of manufacture is both costly and time consuming. This computer was sound except for the virii. He saved the company time and effort by given proper diagnosis and mitigated what could have been a loss. He did his job.

BTW, was it at least good pr0n?

I work for a company that sells tablet computers to route delivery companies. My job is to repair all issues and to provide engineering support.

I've probably worked on about 500 customer repair units. Today I had my first virus infected unit come in. So, I called the IT gal at the company and warned her that the tablet had a virus on it. She was a bit baffled at first, until I was able to get into the IE history and look at the cookies.

Whoa momma, lotsa pron.

She said she'd have to have a little sit down with this individual and his manager.

Was she hot? Er... did she sound hot?

I may have gotten 10 or so people fired at work last week. They are thinking about what to do about it. My job is to make sure things are secure and we are in compliance. I work at a healthcare facility, and we had an employee in a tragic accident, and several of her friends got in and looked at her medical record. I suspected something, did an audit, and handed it over to my manager.

I like almost all of these people, but wrong is wrong. Some of them have worked here for decades. Can't help stupid and wrong though.

I just hope they don't get fired.

i got someone fired for similar reasons...was doing an unannounced attack and penetration test, ended up not just owning the network but also finding over half a terabyte of mp3s and over half a gig of pr0n (practically all jpg files)...it was the system admin...he was let go 3 days later...

stupid question: if its a tablet that the guy carries around with him for work, how and why was it able to come in contact with the internet?

Yeup. Same goes for a company email address. If it's company-owned, I'd expect it to be open to scrutiny 24/7.

You're right, that was a stupid question.

The same way laptops come in contact with the Internet. :Q

I agree with the OP, but you're just an asshole. Seriously.
