I think I just got fleeced on Ebay !!!

I hope I understand the facts correctly about memory on the X800, because I think I just got taken if I do.
I thought the X800XT had Samsung GC16 memory chips; the one that arrived today has GC20 memory chips,
the same as a X800 Pro I had before. I had read this when reading about overclocking certain brands of the X800 Pro to XT speeds [that the memory should be the 1.6's].
Did I get taken ? I know with DDR, bigger is usually better [PC2700 slower than PC3200, etc....], but it seems
that's not the way it is with these chips.
Thanks.

What manufacturer? Normal xt clock speeds are 500/1000 so I can see putting 2ns ram on them.

Some companies have switched to 2ns chips on newer XT and only use 1.6 on PE. Who made your card?

The card is an ATI [brand] card. I don't have the new motherboard I'm getting yet to be able to tell anything about it, as it's PCI-E. I guess I'll just have to wait and see if the X800 XT's didn't all definately come with the GC16 memory chips.
Thanks for the replies.

If you know the part number ,you can go to their website and puch it in I think. That will tell you what brand it is. Shouldn't the card or the box say which card it is though? Or have you not received it yet?

The P/N is 102A3190802-117729, which punching in the first part of the number tells me there is no such card; unfortunately, ATI customer care is closed for the holidays at this time, so it's a little difficult to get in touch with them. 'Have no means to see what the BIOS # is, as I don't have the motherboard yet. Any suggestions appreciated; I guess I'll just have to wait for ATI.....

Taken?
is the card an X800XT? if it is, then you did NOT get taken, you just did not get lucky... IF there really is 1.6NS RAM available on that card. luck of the draw!

LOL while hoping I didn't.... 'Just my luck sometimes.....we'll see [and the P/N coming up with zilch does nothing to enhance my hopes either]....

Are you sure that is the correct part#? Usually you can type in a valid part# for almost anything in google, and you come up with your part. For example, 256-A8-N345-AX is the part number for the eVGA 6800 Ultra, if you type that into google, all of your hits come back with the eVGA card. I get nothing when I google 102A3190802 or 102A3190802-117729. If I'm not mistaken, most built by ATi cards have part numner that starts with 100.
