you should pay more attention!

they added 10 bucks to my order at home depot and tried to give me the wrong color fridge, if I wasnt paying attention the delivery would have been a real shock

Well, this is the one and only, otherwise reputable, bmw dealer in the area.

WRONG again. You should really do more research. There is more than one BMW dealership in St.Louis. I'm sure you're referring to Plaza, but there is also Autohaus and others.

Even so, but if I present Sales Order 1 (signed) and Sales Order 2 (unsigned) and say, hey, why did you guys up the price? I didn't sign that. How can they come out being "correct" about it without looking shady? This is one of the largest dealers in the St. Louis area, if not the biggest.

Oh it's definitely shady, and it's not that what they did was legal it's that it took you quite some time to notice the discrepancy. If you noticed it within the first year you'd have a very good shot at getting your money back. Now though, it's up to the court to decide if it's been too long or not and it doesn't bode well for you at all.

They may give you something out of good faith and image concerns, but from a strictly legal standpoint you shouldn't expect anything.

You can try, not sure what they'll do for you though.

Basically, if they don't admit it as a mistake or that someone obviously didn't pay attention to the sales order I signed, then it's shady business. They can either admit they made a mistake, or admit it was shady. If they admit it was a mistake, then they need to reimburse me. If they don't, they clearly don't want me to buy another car there.

Legal or not, it's going to put them in an interesting position. It's only $600, not worth getting a lawyer involved over, but still.

"I need to know that if I'm going to buy another car here, your company will be honest with me"

I live in Illinois. I was talking about the Metro East. Crossing the river into St. Louis is different. Close, yes. Different state, yes.

Either way, i'd try if I were you...granted, I would have read a little closer, at least at the $ numbers.

Yeah I bought a Mazda once and we agreed to an interest rate. When they wrote up the real contract the interest rate was much higher. But I read it and caught it. So I told them I would walk out if they didn't change it to what we agreed to. The sales guy said he couldn't. So I got up and started to walk out. I didn't make the front door before they stopped me and said oops our mistake. I got the interest rate we agreed to. You've got to watch them like a hawk.

It's such bullshit. That's why I have never bought new and probably won't for a long long time. I don't need a new car enough to put up with bullshit games that rob me needlessly. Good job putting them on their heels though, people need to realize it's not that hard to make them work for you instead of the other way around.

I'd have kept walking out of principle. That's fucked up.

Psh! BMW? Why don't you get a Rolls-Royce like everyone else on ATOT?

Fixed. You tools and your Mercedes, Ferraris, and BMWs... You have nothing on my Rolls-Royce(Even if it is a subsidiary of BMW).

Authorization for the loan legally supercedes the other docs.

BUT if you took them to small claims court (do not need a lawyer) you could get a judgement in your favor if your side of the story here is 100% accurate. Most small claims court judges are very big on the principles and spirit of a contract.

Buying "used" is even more of a scam than buying new.
A dealer was trying to sell me a 2006 V6(non EX-L version) Accord with 15k miles on it for $18.8k.
I got a brand new 2009 V6 EX-L Accord for $24k instead at the opposite side of the street.

And they are sister sites with the same dealer name and everything. Only difference was used cars vs. new.

The used car salesman saw me getting in my new Accord and said congratulations. I just looked at him and kept doing whatever it was I was doing.

I'm sorry what did this add to the thread? Additionally, how is it that getting a car which drives just as well and will last almost as long for $5k less a scam?

The contract I signed to purchase the car is for $600 less than what they filed on my loan. That's what I'm saying. The Order I signed is $600 less. The one they drew up and used for the loan, which I didn't sign, is the greater amount.

bring mommy and daddy in to fight for you!

shit I must have been really fucked on my house because my contract price the seller got was much less than the final loan amount.

outside of actual dollars, a full 20%+ difference in price and chances are monthly costs.

Agreed, I'd be surprised if they didn't make higher margin off of "certified" used vehicles than new. I should add that I don't buy from dealers either as a rule of thumb. I've bought two cars from used car lots and the prices were very fair / comparable to private party prices, everything else has been a private party purchase and I go through cars every couple of years :p
