I think I just destroyed my blender

So I, being the master cook that I am, decided to make a milkshake - oranges and cream, to be exact. I pulled out the blender, washed it (it hadn't been used in a while), and put the following into it: 2 scoops vanilla ice cream, 1/2 cup orange juice, one cup milk.

I then put on the lid and the little center cap, and turned on the blender, while pushing down on the lid. My dream of a perfect orange flavored milkshake was about to be realized.

I guess I was pushing a bit too hard on the top, because before I knew it, the little plastic center cap had pushed through the top and was causing the blender to make a horrible chopping sound, the sound of metal blades chopping plastic into tiny bits.

I immediately unplugged the blender, and reached in to find out what had happened. The plastic cap was decimated, and was lying at the bottom of my milkshake in about four pieces.

I fished them out, and poured the milkshake into a cup. I took a sip, and while holding it in my mouth, realized that there were hundreds of tinly little plastic bits floating around in the drink.

I immediately spit out the shake, poured the rest down the sink, and swore up a storm. Not only had I wasted all those ingredients, but I fear I won't be able to use the blender until I get a new center cap. It might just be easier and cheaper to buy a new one.

Grr.

the moral of this story: don't use a blender if you don't know how to and you are not a master cook! :p

That reminds me of the time I put a smoothie in a thermos and proceeded to drop it. I started drinking and felt pieces of glass in my mouth. I didn't think that the glass inside had shattered when I dropped it. Good think I realized it before I swallowed :Q

With all the people moving around town, shouldn't be too hard to find a used $10 blender. From experience, it's something a lot of people buy but seldomly use, so your chances are good that it'll be in pristine condition.
