Go see a doctor. I'd reccommend you see a neurologist and maybe even a psychiatrist. Also see if you can get a a referral to see an audiologist. An audiologist could check you for something called Central Auditory Processing Problem.

I feel incredibly stressed out just because I can't pay attention. I've tried but it just doesn't work. I feel like I always wanna be moving around or something. I feel really restless.

You guys think I might have ADD? I know there aren't any real phsyics symptoms... its a mental thing. Any tips? I used to take ritalin about 10 years ago but it made me really sick to my stomach. Is there any thing else I should do besides "go to google" or "go to a doctor"? Anyone else have ADD? Even adult ADD?

Yet you somehow managed to concentrate long enough to type this post....plus you probably surf the net for hours on end.

You don't have ADD...

i actually don't use my computer very much anymore since i went to college. i go to class, come back and have to try to teach myself stuff all over again, and then go back to sleep and repeat. there is some minor computer usage in between. haven't played computer games in nearly two months now!

I have a feeling you should 1. Get some exercise, I'm telling you, you'll feel much much better. 2. Somehow improve your diet, eat more fruits and vegetables.

Actually, ADHD is a recognized disorder. I have had it since I was 5. Biochemically, there is an increase in the re-uptake of certain neurotransmitters, such as dopamine and norepinephrine. When a patient is taking ADHD drugs, the frontal-striatal regions of the Hey, look, a doggie! Look at the little doggie. Come here boy......

Only use drugs as a last resort.

I would look into your diet. Learn to eat truly healthy. Get plenty of exercise and sleep.

If you really do have ADD, there's much better alternatives to prescription drugs.

Ritalin for example works by inhibiting certain neurotransmitters in the brain that are supposedly imbalanced (most likely caused by nutrient deficiency during pregnancy/infancy). It is also a strong stimulant. The stimulation effects would make ANYONE concentrate more. How it works fully is not completely understood, but I wouldn't take it. It fvcks around with your brain. After it wears off, you come back from work feeling like total crap. You'll struggle to make yourself dinner because of the immediate withdrawal effects.

I took Ritalin for 10 years and I got sick of the effects.

Here's an alternative that I use, in addition to diet:

http://www.xtend-life.com/main/products.asp?product=nl&page=n4

It's an advanced dietary supplement specifically targeting brain health. It's not a mega vitamin or anything relying on some obscure miracle ingredient. It has several things in it that have been shown in studies to improve concentration without sacrificing any of your health. It'll actually improve your health. You'll come home from work feeling energized instead of tired and depressed.

It also improves sleep. Ritalin fvcks with your sleep.

i ride my bicycle to school every day. two miles each way. i suppose my diet should be changed a little bit at least. i've been getting enough protien, that is for sure. however i don't eat many vegatables. i love fruit though :) i get my bread, wheat, cereal, etc. in the morning.

Probably true. In fact, the whole concept of ADD is total BS.

Carlos Mencia: My retarded sister thinks her 8-year-old son has ADD. But he can play Halo 2 for eight hours straight. HELLO?

Called Hyperfocus and since it is always changing that could help the fact that he stays with it. ADD isn't BS it is a PITA.

Me I might not have ADD but my BipolarII may just be it or mask it. Just because something is way over diagnosed doesn't mean it doesn't exsist. I didn't have it diagnosed til I was 18... No way I could ever work a blue collar job at a factory doing repetitive motions. Or for that matter be in a cubical all day writing code.

I tried to join the military awhile back but they wouldn't let me near a gun.

Can I borrow yours so I can...

Anyhow I have some attention thing going on so bad the only thing I ever read is forums. I can't read books more than one minute. Books trap me I cannot see what is around me. If you read only on the internet your spelling goes south in a hurry. Maybe I look at too many women? Ky has beautiful women that is why I moved here ( I was 20! My johnson was in control)

Do you get frustrated easily and blow it off and quit?

Have you been tested for LDs?

Do you delegate people/things to get your work done?

Crap I need sleep!

gotta go grab my Xanax.

Nothis isn't a parody. It is just my poor english and mind.

I have been diagnosed Bi-polar II 4 times and ADD 3 times the 4th said you can have one or another. The other three said I was predisposed to ADD due to the Bi-Polar II.

Go see a professional Psychiatrist actually see 2 or three. One might not be bought off by the drug companies.

Man can I have that gun yet?

The poeple who don't have ADD will tell you it's not real, the people who do will say it is real. It's up to you to decide. Personally, I feel like the drugs, when taken properly, can show you how to focus, then you can gradually wean yourself off. That's what I did. I still have ADD attacks once in a while, but I realize when they're happening, and I pull myself back out of it. For instance, right now, my g/f just walked by and said "you're naked! tee hee!"

I started to think about sex, but then realized I was in the middle of writing a post.

SO there you have it

My parents were told I had ADD when I was in first grade. They refused to belive them and put me on pills. I was held back and had to do first grade again. This time we moved and I had a new school. The teacher recognized that I was really just very bored and they started advancing my study. I was in 3rd grade before the end of that school year, then advanced (I think they called them gifted and talented classses). This worked great until high school, where 'gifted and talented' just turned into pile on homework. Again i was bored and quickly started to fail. I also tend to fail and things that I dont care about at all (chemistry for example). My teacher would exclaim that I can play jazz guitar, understand multiple computer languages, was a huge math buff, but was failing chemistry.

So anyways, maybe your just bored.

i suppose you could be right... i suck in chem that is for sure. physics seems really hard for me (slowly getting better). algebra is a joke to me. and history is just... its just history. but, like you, i don't care about chemistry. which is probably why i did so bad in it in high school. and likewise in anthropology right now. i did real bad on my first exam but i just can't get interested in it because i don't care!
