I think i got glass in my eyes.

So last night I was minding my own business when a window decided to drive my head through it. I got a small cut, nothing serious, but there were little glass particles that were all over my face. I rinsed my face with cold water, but i think some particles got in my eyes. I am making an appt. with the eye doctor, my eyes feel like they have sand in them or something. I am wondering if I should rush to the hospital, or if the eye doctor appt. is enough. I might just be paranoid.

Any medical advice from ATOTers?

So you're going to start a thread on ATOT because your paranoid about possibly losing your eye sight?

You deserve our repsonses.

If you run to the hospital, you'll just be stuck in the "emergency" lobby for 5 hours before some random doctor looks at your eye, gives you eye drops, and tells you to schedule an appointment with an eye doctor.

Don't rub your eye no matter how much it itches. See the eye doc asap!

How much of a difference would it make if I went now, or after I get of work in 5 hours?

I work in an ER. Go see an eye doctor.

Edit: The ER MD will try to fluoresce your eye. Maybe it's just a corneal abrasion, but it's your eye.

Unfortunately, the OP can't read any of our responses anymore :/

Good point.

I WORK IN AN ER. GO SEE AN EYE DOCTOR. THE ER MD WILL TRY TO FLUORESCE YOUR EYE. MAYBE IT'S JUST A CORNEAL ABRASION, BUT IT'S YOUR EYE.

I unleashed the fury

oh just set an apt. for the eye doctor. leaving work early. thanks all for your advice. but it is getting kind of hard to see right now, and i have work to do, if i lose my sight im going to fake it and pretend that i still can see.

I was able to get an immediate appointment with an ophthalmologist under similar circumstances. Barring that get a ride to the ER stat and do not drive yourself. If your vision is not messed up yet it will be and you won't be driving.
I was young and not as wise when I got a metal sliver in my eye, and I almost did not make it to the doctor due to sympathetic pain.

Oh man, windows decide to fly into my face all the time too! It's crazy!

I know those Fvcking windows. Im racist against windows now forever!

Must be another plot by Microsoft.

I'm pretty sure glass in the eye can be remedied by someone peeing in your eye socket. I read that in a book once.

Let us know how it goes.

No need to make an appointment, just walk in to any optometrist. They can take it out, and if they see something serious they'll tell you to go to an opthamalogist (sp).

I've had the same thing happen, although not from smashing my head through a window.
