I think I fried the cpu/mobo... need ideas for replacement

I think I just fried my gigabayte 7vaxp mobo with amd 2200+ chip. Have 1 gb of 400DDR crucial ram, a geforce 128mb 4400 vid card, 30g cheetah 15k scsi hard drive with xp pro installed, and a 200mb and 80 mb seaget eide hard drives. What would be the least painful upgrade here...with the most bang for the buck? I DO NOT want to do a fresh install of XP pro if I can avoid it...is there any way to just swap in a new mobo/chip combo and perhaps run a xp repair mode to adjust for the new hardware?

Actually TWO five inch floppy disk drives, 8k of RAM, and the first intel processor 🙂...along with my nice black and white monitor...

ehhhh as far as just swapping in new prcoessors, chipsets, and mobo's i think thats a bad idea. i mean it might possibly work, but windows is so finicky sometimes. id probably always do a clean install but thats just me....
