I think I did some damage to my foot...

I was running downstairs and slammed my pinky toe into an immovable 48 pack of sodas and heard this loud crack. There's no swelling, but I have a pain deep in my foot on the side of it (doesn't really hurt bad, it's just like...deep) and it feels weird to walk on it. It just feels...weird, and it's been two hours since it happened. Could I have fractured a bone behind the toe?

I don't have health insurance.

Wait for the swelling... if it happens, you are in deep shit, otherwise give it time, it'll be OK

Currently unemployed, and even if I was employed I wouldn't have health insurance either because it would be some terrible job making minimum wage. So even if some people call me back for the jobs I applied for a few days ago, I still wont have health insurance, yay!

Probably broke your toe. Ive done it twice. About all you can do is tape it to the toe next to it and let it heal.

you forgot the most important part: Swear every swear word known to man, plus 3 when putting on your shoe.

I don't even know how many toes I broke playing football.

what did you do before you became unemployed?

i've broken a few toes and there isn't much you can do unfortunately except tape and time. this is unless it is one of those spiral breaks, but your toe would be turned and you would know you screwed something up.

Yes it is possible to break one of the bones inside the foot, esp the metatarsals, with such an accident. Go to the ER, and get it checked.
One - you either have no way to pay and therefore nothing to go after so the collections agency wont bother you too much.
Or you have credit or something to go after and this is just another expense that you should be responsible for.

If you do seek care, there are some options,
1. Urgent cares are usually a tenth the price of an ER visit.
2. Paying cash at the time of service can save a bunch.
- about 25% at many urgent cares
- as much as 80% at many hospital facilities.
3. Shop arround, - many facilities can give you a rough estimate of cost if you tell them why you are comming in.
