I think I damaged my Abductor hallucis!

When I apply pressure to the inside of my left foot, it hurts. I looked up the muscles on google that are in that area of the foot, and it looks like the Abductor hallucis is the one that's hurting me. There's no discoloration or visible damage or bruses, but it huts to apply pressure. It's been like this for about a week now, and I don't know what to do. I have no idea how I even hurt it. What should I do? Does this kind of thing just go away by itself?

It's been like that for a week and you haven't thought maybe a check with a doctor is in order?

I would except I'm poor and I don't have insurance.

There are low cost clinics. Find one. :)

Or just call a doc and explain to them the problem and ask for advice.

<---- Doctor (Im running the ATOT free clinic today)

Does your muscle hurt when you flex/extend your toes? If not it's probably bony rather than muscular injury. Where exactly is the pain? Is it on the underside of the foot or along the instep? Do you have arches or flat feet? In any instance, you either need more properly fitted shoes or an orthotic. You can try a solid shoe with a non flexible sole along with anti-inflammatory meds and see if that jelps.

It's on the inside part of the foot where you can't say if it's the side or the bottom. It's kind of inbetween. The painful area is closer to the heel of my foot than the toe. It does not hurt to move my toes or walk around. I have properly fitting shoes that have non-flexable soles and I wear them every day. I never notice the pain when my shoes are on, they seem to protect my feet.
