Hi, all.
I'm having problems with my IDE hard disk, a Samsumg SV0844D. I recently used Gnome Partition Editor to re-partition and format it. Since then, Scandisk gives me the following error message:
SCANDISK cannot read from the last cluster on Drive C. This cluster is either damaged, or your system is not configured properly. Drive C may need to have Logical Block Addressing (LBA) enabled to work properly, or its disk partition may be incorrectly marked as a non-LBA partition. Data loss can occur if your LBA setting or disk partition type for this drive is misconfigured.
This is consistent with another symptom, which is that one of my motherboards (an old 486 board) refuses to even post unless LBA is disabled. My other two boards, though, post just fine with LBA enabled.
I tried to perform a low-level format with the Samsung utility (hutil.exe), but since running Gnome Partition Editor it just gives me an error message (it hadn't done that, before).
So, assuming I'm correct that the disk isn't physically damaged, and that Gnome Partition Editor just corrupted the LBA sectors, how do I fix this thing?
Any help would be much appreciated!
