I think I burned out my case's power LED

I built my fileserver many months ago, but I didn't wire up the insides other than connecting the power switch.

So earlier today, I wired the IDE activity LED and Power LED and cleaned up the cables inside.

The power LED glowed orange and I didn't think much of it. It shone fine for many many hours. Just recently I glanced at the case and the power LED was no longer on. I opened up the case and tried reseating the cable and nothing changed. So, then I tested it with another LED. To my dismay the test LED worked, however it shone ORANGE as well. The test LED shone green in every other system I ever built with it. The funny thing was, I'd be more alarmed if the first LED shone too bright. But instead it was just a regular orange glow.

Now here's my problem. I'm assuming that my file server's motherboard is pumping a lot more power to the Power LED than most standard power LED's are spec'ed for. Getting another LED isn't a problem, however I need to know how to find the correct rating.

Am I making any sense? Thanks for any help you guys can offer.

This will be the closest thing to case modding that I've ever done 😉

Check to see if your mobo tells you the volts coming off the connections. In the case of an Asus P4266 it tells you the volts for all the connections. I will say this it shouldnt be more then 5 volts. My power off my Soyo is 3 volts on the power and 5 volts on the HD. You could always get a cheap volt meter and connect it to the mobo, that will tell you the exact voltage.
