This is my current setup:

Athlon XP 1700+
MSI K7T266 Pro2
2x 256MB DDR
Radeon 8500 128mb
2 HD's

Ok, so the last 4 months I knew I hadn't been running it at 1467mhz but instead 1100mhz, this happened when I first put the sytem together 4 years ago or something. So I knew I had to bump up the FSB to 133. At the same time I thought I might mess w/ the CPU ratio and so I changed it. Now The i get no signal from my video card and the D Bracket (diagnostic lights) on the back of my computer say that I've either installed the CPU wrong or it's basically F'ed, and yea so I think it's F'ed. I tried clearing the cmos by shortening it w/ the jumper but no luck... is my cpu gone?

Now if it is gone...how do I clean the bottom of HSF so when I toss in a new/used cpu I just apply some artic silver or whatever.

 
It's probably not your cpu, but if you think it is, take off the heatsink. If it stinks (smells like something burned), then you fried it. More than likely, you just set it too high, and the chip won't boot until the bios has been reset.
 
How do i reset the bios if I can't get into the bios? I turn on the computer and the monitor doesn't even light up...it's in its standby mode. I tried taking out the cmos battery.
 
There may be a jumper on your board to clear the CMOS but for those who don't, you need to unplug your system and take out the CMOS battery.
 
No = bad 🙁. So I unplug the computer first? I have a jumper and a battery. I tried the jumper but it didn't work. I put the jumper in the correct position then i returned it to it's original state (w/ the computer off) then turned it back on but no work. Then i tried the cmos battery w/ the computer off but not unplugging it...
 
OMG you guys rock, lol! I disconnected the power and reinserted the cmos battery. NOW IT WORKS! 😀 THANKS!
 
No = ineffective. Just give it another try with it unplugged and maybe you'll get results 🙂 Good luck!
 
i have the same mobo and cpu, just make sure your clearing it with the right jumper and you unplugging the computer,otherwise it will still keep getting power. i've never had to take the battery out and i've done all that stuff many times before 🙂
