If you think your new roommate is going to be a problem why don't you move to that bigger room that he didn't take ?

Something I just thought of and sort of the opposite of this.

My neighbors kid just got his own place with 3 friends and some other guy they met recently, four bedroom place, three bedrooms in a row and the other on the other side of the house.

The 'new guy' wants the middle room and it turns out he is the only one that works mornings (5am he starts)....the other guys work nights and do the college thing during the day.

He adamantly believes he should not have to relocate to the other side of the house and everyone should keep quiet when he sleeps (he works 6 days a week with Tuesdays and Wednesdays off)...this means that just about any night the other 3 want to come home and party after work, he is going to be sleeping.

I told my neighbor he should send Full Metal Jacket, the soap and pillowcase solution seemed to work, just keep any M16's away from him after.
