I Think Gifts Should Be Stuff "YOU" Want, Not What They Want

I think gifts is all about sharing things that you love, like if your favorite candy bar is Snickers, you should give out Snickers as gifts.

This is so we could share the same experience and improve our empathy with eachother.

But I also think when giving a gift NO ONE HAS TO ACCEPT IT!

If you don't like the gift you should not be shamed for not taking it.

What do you think?

Depends. If it's a random gift out of the kindness of your heart "Hey I bought me a candy bar and got you the same."

If it's a birthday, wedding, holiday, etc where someone has a list of suggestions of what they would like then its more of pleasing the person you are buying the gift for not pushing your likes onto them.

Maybe you should take a page from the hobbits and give out gifts on your birthday instead of receiving them.
In general, giving someone a gift is a sign that you care about them, and a great way to show them you care about them is by giving them something they want. It can especially show that you pay attention to their interests and desires.

Is this about you or about the person you are giving a gift to? Rather than worrying about what you like, it makes better sense to give a gift that you believe the receiver will like. No point in giving a Snickers bar to someone with a peanut allergy. 🤮

Sometimes I find something I admire, but have no use for, so I ask myself "who can I give this item to?" or "who might like getting this?"

That's kind of me projecting my wants on them.
