:Q

So i'm running 3dmark2k1 (here's my results for ya ;)). Then all of the sudden our house just shook. I was like what the hell, did a car just crash into my house? So I open our back door(usual entrance) and i see everyone else looking out their door. Nothing happen outside, so i'm guessing we just had an earthquake. If you peeps see anything on the news, LMK.

peace

I noticed a few have been ocurring near the new madrid fualt lately. I hope the big 8.0 isn't coming like the one that formed Reel Foot Lake.

Could it have been an explosion?

Maybe a meth lab or some hick with home-made dynamite?

The New Madrid fault is THE SCARIEST one of all. I'd rather live on a swampy plain in the West :Q

You'll be glad if the New Madrid wakes up. People always warn about Cali "falling off into the ocean", but at least people there are expecting it and design buildings to withstand shock.

I was wondering if that's the fault that made the mississippi flow backwards and picked a lake up and put it on a town. Yep, quake of 1811 that's the puppy. They felt that earthquake in NewYork. Just remember, large sky scrapers are safe, and wood frame homes are safe. It's all the stuff in between, especially unreinforced masonry you wanna stay out of. :)

no this one is pretty scary too

When Unit 1 was built, the Atomic Energy Commission had no siting criteria for atomic reactors, thus it was built on an active earthquake fault line 24 miles from New York City.

i grew up about 15 miles from this nuclear power plant

Yup, a New Madrid earthquake would be a very bad thing indeed.

It's actually been very quiet out here for a looong time. Too quiet according to geologists. Looks like things have been picking up a little recently though:

Hmm... Outlook not so good...
