I think ants are invading my bathroom

Leros

Lifer
A few days ago I saw a few ants in my bathroom. I sealed up the hole in the tile they were coming from and bought some ant poison. Today, they are back in slightly larger numbers and they seem to be ignoring the poison bait I got.

I leave on Saturday for a 4 week vacation (going home). I've already laid down poison bait. What else can I do to prevent ants from taking over while I'm gone?

spray some ant spray down the hole? then seal it with cement or something?

My apartment is kinda old. There are cracks all over the grout, little gaps behind molding etc. It would be nearly impossible to seal them all.

My lease specifies that I handle pest control, so I can't have my landlord do anything.

And they're coming out of an interior wall, not an exterior wall.

I can send you a Black Widow.
I'm sure she'd ablige you with the any problem 😉

Damn, come to think of it, I have to update you guys on the Black Widows soon.

But for now, I'm off to cook my bacon, eggs and toast.

buy a high intensity laser and point it at the hole

but really, the only way to be sure is to nuke your house from orbit

There are sugar and protein based baits depending on the ant, you may need 1 or both types. In the house, use baits, do not spray. Spray will causes the Ants to spread out and make more colonies in your walls.

I've had really good luck with those poison bait traps,.. (the little black ones,... from Raid?)

I laid out a bunch of them on my front porch and in like,... a week or two no more ants.

They take that crap back to the nest and feed it to the queen,... so as soon as the queen dies,.. the rest are quickly to follow,..

So, I wouldn't worry too much,... give those traps a week or two to work,... inless they like snackin' on your poo better,....

My crazy brother in law said to lay down piles of salt,... and they'll over eat it,... and I guess die? IDK,... I didn't try this.

The type of bait you need depends on the type of ant.

The only experience I've had is with little black sugar ants. Terro gets a lot of praise, but I've actually had better luck with Combat Ant Killing Gel.

You can find it practically anywhere (Home Depot, Walmart, Giant, etc)

I'm using some in my dorm right now.

Best thing is you can actually clog up some of the primary holes/entry routes with this stuff, so they'll have to eat their way in, poisoning themselves in the process.

also clean the whole place really well with bleach just before leaving. Move all food into the fridge, empty all trash, and vacuum.

For the love of god, don't nuke it from orbit. It will only create uncertainty.

With no one at home, the ants may mutate and be allowed to roam free.

*crack pipe removed

There is no hope. Surrender now and submit to your new Ant-Overlords. If you are lucky, you will be spared a prolonged death in the sugar mines and will get to live out your life in relative luxury as a personal pet of the queen.
