I think adding this to every car will decrease the number of accidents

I don't understand why any of you are voting that this is a stupid idea... I mean, it's obviously not stupid, and it obviously isn't going to cause more acccidents or anything... Even if it prevented a few hundred accidents a year, it would be worth it.

Thoes lights are actually on when the DOOR is open.
There is a little switch that senses when the handle is out of place.

My grandfather, tinkerer that he used to be, installed these little stop light devices in the rear window that did just that. When on the gas, the lights were green, when he let off the gas, the yellow lights would show. And when he hit the brakes, yes, the red lights would come on.

🙂

So your grandfather stole a traffic light and mounted in his rear windows... niiiice..

Right...

Just like people ignore brake lights?

How can you possibly say that this is a stupid idea? It would increase reaction time, even if only by a few milliseconds.. that can be the difference between an accident and swerving to avoid the accident.

Get real people.

Get real?
Right, might as well just have autodrive cars huh..
Oh wait... autodrive ... sounds like .. A MASS TRANSIT system.
Gee, how evolution of thought occurs in cycles.

it'd be a good idea, but with the idiots on the road now, i'd figure most of them are color blind, they see red and they charge through, since the 2 mintues they wait is the end of the world

all cars should also have side mounted turn blinkers, and pressure sensitive brighter brakelights.

I think BMW already has pressure-sensitive brakelights on the 7-series. It'll probably trickle down to most other cars over the next 5-10 years.

Yes, finally, someone with some sense.
You know what they say, great minds think alike 😉

This is a good idea, but what REALLY needs to happen is that people need to learn how to drive. "Safe following distance" is such a foreign concept to most of the knuckleheads on the road today....

That would work well for me, since I engine brake most of the time. It's kind of funny seeing all the people in traffic speeding up as fast as they can just to step on the brakes at the next light. I get going and then coast, and drop a gear and let it slooooooow. 🙂

I think our cars should be computer controlled in a network with each vehicle as a node. Think of the efficiency possibilities!
