It doesn't really have a girdle effect though. It just conforms to your body. Now, for skinny people, it does have a slimming effect because most Tshirts are bigger, so when you wear a compression shirt it would let people see how skinny you are. Fat people still look fat.
However, I wear it for its intended use, exercise. Helps regulate the body temperature in warm or cold weather, helps prevent chafing, its lightweight, tight fitting, etc.
