I usually try to stay away from pontiacs, as they are usually chick cars.

You call a blown 3800 Series motor a chick car? Someone doesn't know the potential of these motors.

I know the potential of them to burn oil at 80,000 miles. I know 3 people who have pontiacs. All three burn oil. 97, 98 and 2000 models. All between 60,000 - 100,000 miles.

I have an 87 GrandAM (yea, different breed), but it runs great at 175,000 miles. Tons of power and it only drips a bit of oil from the pan because the person who had it before me screwed up the oil plug and I had to chisel the old one out and I think I put a very tiny hole in it. Only leaks maybe a quart every 3000 miles. Burns no oil at all.

I have seen GM cars with the 3.1L and 3.8L with over 200,000 miles that don't burn oil.

Oil burning is mostly caused by not taking care of the car verywell. I have seen a car with 40K that burns oil and a car with over 300K that did not, difference, they each have a different owner and both were GM cars.
