I really really liked it. Didn't pull quite as hard as my Mercedes E550 coupe but man does it feel tight and the brakes are amazing. Handling is sports car like and it actually has a decent amount of room for passengers and luggage. I loved the sound the exhaust made when shifting and that dual clutch gearbox changes gears with lightening quickness. Interior is really comfortable and stylish. Very un-SUV like. Most SUVs are big lumbering piles of crap, this thing is like a sports car.

Even with the $86k price tag, this might be my next car.
 
my father has a S, its nice, cupholder placement sucks and the visors don't telescope to cover the side window

besides that its a fun car
 
I didn't even know this thing existed. The entry level is under US$50K? Shocking that they are getting into that low of a tier market. Jules, what year is your E550? I've been looking at those recently.
 
Are you taking the Macan or the F-Pace? The entry level from either vehicle isn't something I'd want. You really want to step up to the Macan S or the F-Pace Prestige before the vehicles are worth purchasing.

It's a 2014 and I'd pass on the E550 coupe. The brakes don't last very long and they are bloody expensive if you take it to the dealer.

It's a nice car though. Fairly luxurious and well appointed. Not so much sporty as it is fast in a straight line. Mine has the sport package so it has the sport/comfort adjustable suspension and selectable drive modes.

The E550 coupe is also kind of tough to find. They sell mostly the v6 version and most of the E550's I see are convertibles. The convertibles aren't as stiff and they are heavier so less sporty.
 
Like standard cars, SUVs can be categorized into 2 types... standard comfort vs. performance. Most people who buy them to haul family and gear aren't going to want a stiff suspension or the need for it to perform especially at higher cost, which is why most SUVs on the road are more "lumbersome".

I just drove 10 hours straight in my stiff suspension/handling/sport seat SUV and I felt it.

There are many road cars which have a lot of body roll too. The crossovers of today are much better in terms of handling than the truck-frames of yesteryear. At this point, you should just disband the brigade, party of 1. 😉

The Macan is a bit of a bubble car. I hated the FX35 when it came out, and I'm not a fan of this one either. I'll take a Cayenne GTS though.

Just giving you a hard time. The Macan would be very high on my list as well. Not 100% on the looks and I have not personally driven one yet, but I have driven enough Porsches to be sold on the experience.

I generally prefer cars, and love my current 335i, but there are times when an SUV is convenient...especially here in CO. Over the summer I took the 335i up some dirt roads to some trailheads...and man is that car out of its element the second you leave the road. Even just around Denver...streets are so bad in places I feel like I am torturing the suspension. Still love the car and for 95+% of my driving, it is perfect...but every once in a while I am driving over something that makes me think an SUV would have been a smarter buy for where I live.
 
The Macan Turbo is probably my favorite performance SUV right now. Nothing really like it with the looks and performance.
