I just quit drinking diet drinks sweetened with aspartame. I've been feeling kinda foggy-headed lately and I was wondering if that might not have something to do with it. Maybe it's a placebo effect, but I'll be damned if I don't feel better now.

diet sodas have more caffeine in them than regular sodas. also, it very well could have to do with the aspartame. aspartame biproducts are methanol, formaldehyde, and formate. depending on how much you drank, you could have felt some of the affects of the byproducts.

This, plus the occasional tea

You do know Diet sodas are worse for you than normal sodas. FUCK diet sodas. I get a real kick out of watching people at fast food places, restaurants etc.. order or get DIET drinks and pig out even more on food sinde they are drinking a DIET soda, that suddenly justifies eating more food for them.

I' drather drink water, or non-sweet tea if you need your caffiene fix without the sugar.

After several months the diet taste good and regualr taste bad. You adjust.

When I try and drink reg. coke now it gives me a headache and taste bad. Diet Coke, now, is really great.

Did you actually see any difference in your life? Some studies have been showing that people that switch from regular to diet tend to GAIN weight. Why? Because they train themselves to crave sweets, but the diet Pepsi/Coke don't satisfy the cravings and then they eat desert or something unhealthy to truely satisfy the cravings. This effect is possible to overcome with willpower, of course, but not many people have sufficient willpower.

.

i switched from mt dew to diet mt dew like 5 years ago. over the next 4 months i lost 17 pounds with no other change to my diet or exercise routine. it leveled off, but it did help a lot. about 3 years ago i switched to plain ole iced tea with no sugar. a bit more came off, but not really that much. changing my diet overall made the biggest change, but i wasnt dedicated enough to keep it up longer than 2 years. lost 95lbs total, gained about 90 back.

Same here just going from soda to diet I lost a good 5-10pounds. Lost more after I got on a workout program and did some other stuff.

I drank a lot, probably 7-8 per day. I still drink diet drinks, but I get the ones that are sweetened with sucralose, which I believe is Splenda. All the information I can find shows that splenda may have some unusual effects on the body, but nothing like aspartame. I wonder if I'm not looking in the right places though.
