I decided 3 months ago it would be smart to switch from regular to diet & I did. That is all.

Artificial sweetner tastes disgusting.

I' drather drink water, or non-sweet tea if you need your caffiene fix without the sugar.

I do it for the taste. The lack of calories and the potential brain cancer are only side benefits.

Diet Dr. Pepper, Coke Zero, and Pepsi One have allowed me to switch. I don't like the taste of diet coke or diet pepsi, but the others mentioned taste a lot like their non-diet equivalents.

Pepsi One is really good, drinking it now. Pepsi Max is also good.

What's the difference between Coke Zero / Pepsi One and Diet Coke / Diet Pepsi?

I just quit drinking diet drinks sweetened with aspartame. I've been feeling kinda foggy-headed lately and I was wondering if that might not have something to do with it. Maybe it's a placebo effect, but I'll be damned if I don't feel better now.

Did you actually see any difference in your life? Some studies have been showing that people that switch from regular to diet tend to GAIN weight. Why? Because they train themselves to crave sweets, but the diet Pepsi/Coke don't satisfy the cravings and then they eat desert or something unhealthy to truely satisfy the cravings. This effect is possible to overcome with willpower, of course, but not many people have sufficient willpower.

For me, I did the really difficult move and switched from Coke/Pepsi to water. Sure, I occasionally miss it. But, I don't crave those sweet drinks much any more. It took about two months to really adjust.

That said, have you tried Fresca? I drank that stuff for years and only recently found out it was diet. They don't mark it as diet anywhere, and I never bothered to look at the nutrition label on Fresca. It sure doesn't taste diet.

It's not too bad once you get used to it. I actually don't like non-diet soft drinks, they're *too* sweet for my tastes.

I drink ass-juice because it's made by the same company that makes this really good drink I like. The ass-juice tastes like ass, but the weird carcinogenic chemicals in it are offset by the fact that it doesn't have any calories. Yes, I'm a rational, intelligent individual- why do you ask?

Don't quote me on this since I usually drink water but I think your average diet variety uses aspartme while the other specialty diet(coke zero, pepsi max, pepsi one, etc) uses either splenda or a combination of other sweeteners as to reduce the content of aspartme. It's the aspartme that makes diet soda taste like crap.

.

i switched from mt dew to diet mt dew like 5 years ago. over the next 4 months i lost 17 pounds with no other change to my diet or exercise routine. it leveled off, but it did help a lot. about 3 years ago i switched to plain ole iced tea with no sugar. a bit more came off, but not really that much. changing my diet overall made the biggest change, but i wasnt dedicated enough to keep it up longer than 2 years. lost 95lbs total, gained about 90 back.

I have not gained any weight, been in the 180-190 range for 2 years now from 280. It took a little time to adjust but now I can no longer drink regular as it is way too sweet.

Fresca is great! I had it a couple of times a while back & loved it, no idea it was diet. This is good FYI thank you.

ugh, diet soda tastes awful. Water tastes much better.

I quit soda all together as a new years resolution.. well, actually I thought of it like jan 6th and retcon'd it into a new years resolution..

but seriously.. whenever someone tells me that they prefer diet soda to regular, I immediately label that person as having defective taste buds. You just don't know how to taste things properly if you think diet soda tastes like regular soda.

How about you just not drink any (other than occasionally)? Crazy idea, I know, but most of us survive doing it.

I switched from Mountain Dew/Dr Pepper to Rum.

Hasn't had the results I was hoping for just yet.

I drink water, beer, coffee, and whiskey. But not all a the same time. Can't see any reason to drink a sweet fizzy childrens' party concoction.
