The next time I see someone clearing the display of a calculator by pressing the "C", "CE", or "Clear" key more than the necessary number of times will get smacked with the calculator itself....
 
Yeah talk about unnecessary contact wear to a rarely used key. Well relatively speaking. Equals must get the most wear.

That's not creepy. I can think of a million things that are creepy, but watching people using their calculators doesn't really qualifies...
 
I'm one of those people, because I don't know what the buttons do and sometimes when I hit one of them only once, it only erases the last input.
 
The same could be said about people that approach an elevator landing and see both buttons illuminated and yet insist to press them. Waiting a minute later they press them again!

Or people turn the thermostat all the way down thinking the room will get colder FASTER!. Then later they forget about it set at 55F and the repair people have to be called because the room gets HOT when the coil ices over...

Haha the elevator thing always bugs me. Apparently, people think that pressing the button over and over in rapid succession will make it come faster. :biggrin:
 
I didn't learn until after high school that C meant clear the whole thing while CE meant just clear the current entry. So rather than learn/remember what the difference was it was easier to just press both and start all over again.

Well repeating a certain thing over and over indeed can make something come faster. 😉

i do it. because some fucking calculators don't clear when you press it once. they go back to a previous result or some shit. bash the button a few times and make sure you get zero 😉
 
Accountant here - I do it because some 10keys store numbers before hand and when you start entering numbers you end up with the incorrect result.

That's why you clear it a few times to make sure it's zero'd out.

I went to high school with a guy like that. He adopted the Michael Jackson look (before Michael adopted the Glinda, Good Witch of the North look). It was kind of weird.
